Hello I have been reading this forum for a little while now and I have a question I could not find an answer for so I figured I'd ask.

When I try to access my /motorola/shared/picture folder using BitPim 0.7.3.3 it gives me a communication error. I can access all other folders as far as I know. The error reads: "Other CDMA Phone on COM4: The phone is ont responding while manipulating the filesystem." Has anyone else had this problem? And does anyone know how to fix it?

I have tried to reinstall the program and the drivers. I have rebooted both the phone and the computer multiple times. I have tried different USB ports and a different computer. I am using a USB 2.0 Port. Any assistance you guys could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys and thanks for all the information I have gained in the past

Dumb question, as far as I can tell, you only need MPT if you want to sue bluetooth, correct? What if I don't want bluetooth, then do I not need to apy for it, can i jsut use PST?

if i understood your statement correctly, it's actually the reverse, you need PST and a data cable to enable bluetooth via seem edit, after you've enabled bluetooth, you can use OBEX and wont necessarily need MPT

Before I go and buy something, what exactly do i need the expensive MPT for? I'm sort of unclear what its purpose is, and how it can help me. Thanks.

Not needed for basic file transfers (after seem edit), but very handy; makes transfers, sync, edit ringtones, etc. easy. Expensive at $29...? Very good price for what you get.

If you are getting that error only when trying to access certain folders (like the motorola/shared/pictures) via USB, then that is just the usbser.sys thing:

    File Transfer Errors

I had file transfer errors left and right after doing the seem edit, but once I rolled back the "usbser.sys" driver it has worked flawlessly.

Thanks to all for a lot of great information!

You DONT need Bluetooth on your PC to do anything... Unless you don't want to have to use a cable AFTER you complete the Seem Edits.

Please see Post #36 of this thread. (note it was written before the first post was revised so now....

If you don't have bluetooth on your PC/Laptop, and don't plan on it, you just need to do steps 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, & 8. You can skip steps 2 & 4...

Oh, and if you are using a USB cable rather than Bluetooth, for step 8.... change "go to setup/new phone/Bluetooth;" to go to setup/new phone/USB Cable... When its finished finding your "modem"... go use MPT's SETUP menu -> General Setup -> Communication tab -> Change Modem -> click Next -> (select device screen, highlight your Moto USB modem) -> click Next -> check the box for "Do not automatically detect the driver -> click Next -> Select CDMA from the left column. Select E815M from the right column and click Next and finish.

If you plan on using Bluetooth with MPT, then at some point you have to do steps 2& 4. And if using Bluetooth, you follow step 8 exactly as written.

Then what does this mean? Re-read & you'll be able to get it done.
