It's my advice that you wait until you have plenty of time to not only make the seem eidts, but to read AND understand the guidelines provided. Otherwise, you're liable to find yourself with a dead phone needing resuscitation. No need to rush through this stuff...

If I gave you my hacked seem, how would you get it to your phone? Email?

No. You must have a data cable in order to program your phone.

I've only had the motorola E815 for about a week and it's a pretty phone.

I would like to start hacking into the phone and comstomize to make even cooler.

But, I need to know if I can get it to work if I only have window xp sp 1.

I would like to get this question answered before I waste my money on buying cables and a memory card.

I've been getting mixed signals about updating to sp2.... a lot of people I know have been saying that they've encountered problems with the sp2, and they had to reformat and uninstall it.

That's something that I don't really want to go through right now... and if there is any way that you can help me. I'd appricate it...

QUESTION! Does anyone have an idea of where to look/research/do something different when Windows XP PRO Sp2 crashes with MPT installed? Everytime I connect the E815, I either get a blue screen of death...windows...serious error...blahblahblah...must be shut down___OR WINXP automatically reboots after I connect the E815 via SKN6311B...after about 5 seconds of having the SKN6311B attached and all.

Any suggestions here?

Just received my data cable in the mail today. While waiting for the cable I read and re-read the entire thread trying to get an idea of how difficult this would be. Well thanks to the excellent instructions and feedback, I was able to zip right through this and do the edits and all.

Thanks for wanting to help me. I think I know a fair amount about software, hardware, etc...but am always wanting to learn! I broke my first SKN6311B cable by not observing how to "unlatch" it from the bottom of the phone, so I broke the plastic tips on either side of the latch that goes into the E815.

Is the SKN6311B the problem, or should I get a basic SKN6311 cable? I have read where other posters have had success with cables other than the 6311. In that case, should I get another brand/number/part number via a different cable other than the MOTO SKN6311B?
