Could someone Email me the PST_7.1.1.rar. I've been looking for most of the afternoon for it and I can't locate it. Even the Russian sites seem to be down.
After gleaning through all this stuff, I have hacked the E815 and have it working with a Mac. I wrote up the steps on one of the Mac forums. The amazing thing is that Macs come with an application called "Bluetooth File Transfer". That and an app called iSync 2.1 and it all works. I didn't have to buy the Motorola Phone Tool.
I had trouble finding a PST_7.1.1. And when I finally did, it wouldn't work with Windows-XP SP2. Eventually I found a PST_723.zip that worked.
I just want to give a big THANK YOU to all the folks on this forum who made it all happen.
One question
Can someone describe what each bit in the 2 bytes that get modified does?
Rename the %WINDIR%\inf\Bth.inf file to Bth.bak before you install or reinstall the third-party device or stack. When you rename the file, you prevent Windows Plug and Play PNP from using that INF file to install the Bluetooth driver that is included with Windows XP SP2. To rename the file, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type %windir%\inf in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Right-click Bth.inf, and then click Rename.
3. Rename Bth.inf to Bth.bak, and then press ENTER.
4. Install the third-party Bluetooth driver.
This issue is just another proof positive the decision to stick with SP1 on XP was a better choice. I read & heard way too much negative feedback after SP2 was first introduced and then some. Didn't trust it then, and i still won't now for sure.
Thanks for the confirmation:

Absolutely Outstanding Topic and extremely helpful! Thanks to you also with much appreciation and also to all who are posting and those who will post their very useful contributions and experiences in it also.
This is a tremendously interesting Forum, and along with all it's membership, Moderators and Experts, make it truly a class act.
Thanks again everyone and YES! Motorola for the Mighty E815! and
Verizon for me anyway, thru all it's ups and downs still has most every nook and cranny covered to satisfaction, just don't hit us regular stiffs too hard with any new increases.

MIRRORMIRROR, you must admit that ANY Windows OS is a bloated behemoth!! I remember when DOS fit on a 5 1/4" floppy diskette (http://www.mfarris.com/Store/Floppy/floppy5.html) - remember those? Hopefully, Windows Longhorn will be Windows Lite, but I doubt it!!

I'll make this a brief, somewhat off-topic, but i hear ya loud and clear. We will soon see how well they done or if they been sleeping at the wheels again i agree.
My CPU is been strong enough to make my old Win98SE provide instant lightning response but on the other partition where rests XP Pro i noticed MicroSlow is yet to come up to speed with graphics, you know, those extra GUI attractions that dress the frames and such, not to mention all those nice services that spin the cycles or bite into memory like this
The drivers issues some of the members here are experiencing seems to be a direct result of XP2 and some native default files not being compatible with the certain softwares which always throws a big rock in the road to getting on with doing something productive.
I followed the directions to the T except I dont have bluetooth so I skipped those steps, but I finally edited my seem and got MPT to work, but now here's my problem:
I went to use MPT again and it couldnt locate my phone. The driver comes up in device manager, but MPT cant find it.
Restarted the phone, mpt, and windows, to no avail.
I moved to a different USB spot and it found it again after installing the drivers over again.
Same thing happened again after I unplugged the usb, wont detect the phone in MPT. Moved to YET ANOTHER USB port and it finds it again. It not only doesnt find the phone, or it will say it's a Sprint phone when it loads up and get stuck on INITIALIZING.
Any ideas? I have a usb cable from ebay which also charges.
But do you remember 8" floppies & punch cards? You are not a jedi yet!
I DO I DO.. well 8" floppies... I even still have an 8" head cleaning diskette... Punch cards, I've only seen durring training, and in boxes in the office
