Question Las Vegas, Nevada ATTWS GSM Coverage

I know a lot of people visit Vegas. I just want to know how good is the GSM service in Nevada, and Las Vegas? Is it good? What about going in to buildings and hotels?

I was there last weekend and I would have to characterize the coverage as just ok. Works some places, and doesn't work in others. I had full signal in my room at Mandalay Bay, but no coverage in the casino. But that seems to be pretty much the case with any provider in Las Vegas. I don't think the casinos want you on your cell phone anyways. I didn't make it off the strip and I was inside all the time, so I don't know if this helps you.

You get bad reception with most any phones in casinos. I have no problems with it at all. With my S100 I get 3-4 bars out of six in casinos, and that is just fine for making and recieving calls. Everywhere else in town is great!

    Trust me. I live here.

    Vegas

I was just there this weekend and did a Network Search on my 8290 in the Excalibur casino and it picked up Cingular and AT&T. AT&T is a TDMA carrier there and their 800mhz coverage is solid (or it was on my 6360). However their 1900 GSM might vary.

Cingular and T-Mobile have VERY strong GSM coverage. There was not one place where I saw a "No Service" banner on my 8290 while on Cingular.

when i was on att tdma, i had no problem using my phone anywhere in vegas, including inside cansinos. when i go back out in april, i will see how my t-mo works, and if its as good as the previouis poster said, i will be happy as hell, avoiding the hotel phone rates.

Yeah, Cingular has excellent indoor coverage in most of the Strip casinos/hotels; I frequent the MGM Grand, New York-New York, Stardust and Circus Circus, and reception inside those places are great.

i will be happy as hell, avoiding the hotel phone rates.
lol yeah.. How much money are the hotels losing from people using their mobile phones instead of the hotel's phones?

I worked in a hotel (not in Vegas) and we charged .50 each time you got an outside line, weather the phone connected or not. Most of our guest were bussiness people making lots of calls, we averaged about $20 a room in outside connection(not counting the out of this world .85 a minute long distance rate) and so we took a beating with cell phones. Oh, wait...only VZW and Alltel would work at our hotel, its in the middle of a hole, no SPCS, barely any T-Mo and we dont have ATT in our area (go about 9 miles give or take and pick up ATT). Most people were stuck using our phones. I did not profit from it, so it did not bother me, I even used my cell phone quite a bit.

I would have to agree with the previous posts about Cingular having a VERY strong signal in Vegas. I was there in June with my GF, and we took her T-Mobile Nokia 3390. That thing never showed less than 3/4 bars, no matter where we were. Deep inside hotels it still worked really well. I would assume that AT&T's TDMA service works just as well.

AT&T GSM Service in Henderson, NV

Have little or no reception in Anthem area of Henderson with AT&T GSM service. Does anyone have T-Mobile service in this area and how does it work?

Just got back from Vegas last night. I had signal in every hotels, MGM, Luxor, Tropicana, Stratosphere, Palms, New York, and Paris. I lost signal once while walking through Paris hotel near the Buffet area. Overall I would give an A+ for the coverage that I got from AT&T in Las Vegas. I was so happy about the coverage that I gave each and every hotel a piece of the money that I brought, my wallet is completely empty now if you know what I mean.

Hm, I had the opposite using my T68i with ATTWS in Vegas last month. There were parts of the airport that didn't have reception. The Desert Shopping Mall thing at the Alladin was also mostly no signal. The Sterling Buffet entrance also had little to no signal.

    YMMV I suppose.

You had reception problems because you have a T68i

I was just in the Desert Passage a couple days ago with my S100, and I had no problems at all.
