    Tutorials: Slider

This is a page of all hacks, tips, tricks, and other things for the slider. Please Feel free to post/correct any information that i have posted.

I WOULD LIKE TO STATE FIRST AND FORMOST THAT I AM NOT! RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE DONE TO YOUR PHONE. IT IS UNLIKELY THAT DAMAGE TO YOUR PHONE WILL OCCUR, BUT KEEP THAT IN MIND!!!

RINGTONES: First off, you will need two programs to complete this action. Audicity and Bitpim. You can do a google search to find these programs.

MAKEING RINGTONES: Open up Audicity. Navigate to File>Open. Find a song that you would like to make your ringtone. On the bottom of audicity, there is a tab that says "project rate" change that to 16000 and ONLY 16000! After you have done that, delete parts of the song that you do not wish to include in your ringtone.(NOTE: you should make your ringtone about 25-45 seconds long) Tword the left of the Audicity window, there is a box with the name of your song. Click on it. Navigate to "split sterio track". After you have done that click on that tab again. Navigate to "Mono". Do this on both sides of the track. Then go to "file" "export as mp3" save it to the location of your desire. YOUR RINGTONE IS NOW MADE

Putting the Tones on your Phone:

Open up BITPIM. Click on the "Filesystem"(it may take a little while to load). Then go to user>sound>ringtones. Right click on the "ringtones" tab. Navigate to "add new file" Find the ringtone that you just made and then click open. It may take a bit of time for the ringtone to load on your phone. When it's finished, cheeck on your phone to see if your new ringtone is there. Good Luck

    NOTES:
Be careful not to load more then 5 ringtones on your phone(MP3) There is a chance you will fry your phone

In order to export MP3's you will need to download Lame MP3 encoder

In Audicity to make your ringtone files smaller you must navigate to File>prefrences>fileformats. Then look twords the bottom of the window. Look for "Bit Rate" change it to 24. Your MP3 Files will be much smaller

In Bitpim, in order to see your filesystem tab, you must goto view>viewfilesystem

    WALLPAPER:

You will need the program Irfanview to make wallpapers. You can find the program on google. You will also need Bitpim

    MAKEING WALLPAPERS

Open Irfanview. Navigate to File>open find the picture of your choice and then click on "open" Once you have opened your file navigate to Image>resize/resample. Look for where it says "set new size". Under there change your with to 128 and your height to 125(NOTE: you may have to un check the "preserve aspect ratio box") and then click "ok"Your file is now the size of your sliders screen. You will nowhave to save the file. Goto file>save(or save as) Save the file as BMP 1-20(pick any number from 1-20) After you have renamed the file, click on the "save as type" and click on PNG. Now click the "save" button

Now open BITPIM. Click on the "filesystem" tab. Then navigate to user>mypictures. Right click on "mypictures" and navigate to "new file" Find your new wallpaper and then click "ok". Look through your phone to see your new wallpaper!

MAKING PHONE WORK WHEN SLID DOWN:

Open up your phone with a T6 screw driver from the screws under the battery. When all of the screws are removed, gently remove the back pannel to the phone. With a stardard screwdriver, gently pry the circuit board(BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO PRY UP TOO FAR, THE FLEX CABLE WILL SNAP!) Now that your main board is removed from the housing, you will need to remove your flex cable. With your finger nail, gently pull the brown piece where your flex cable is up. Then gently remove the flex cable. Once the flex cable is removed from the main board, unscrew the screws from the sliding rails. Now gently take the piece off of the phone. You will now see four more screws. Unscrew them and then pry the slide back off(BE MINDFUL OF THE FLEX CABLE!) On the slide back, you will see two magnets on both sides of the piece. Remove them. Now put your phone back together by reversing the steps i just expalined. DONE! You phone will now function perfectly function when in the slide down position.

    CHANGING HOUSING/FACEPLATE:

Take off your battery, unscrew the screws on the back of the phone with a T6 screw driver. Pry off the back plate, lift up circuit board gently(be mindful of flex cable) remove the flex cable from mail board by lifting brown part by the connector, Unscrew then next 2 set of screws(be careful of flex cable!) remove the LCD board from the faceplate. Now put the LCD Pannel into the new faceplate. Find the new back slide and put your sliding rails on.(you may also put the slide magnets on from the old housing) carefully thread your flex cable through the opening. Snap the Back slider on and then screw in the screws, then take the keypad housing and screw it into the slide rails. Reconnect the flex cable by putting the brown hatch up(gently with finger nail) gently feeding the cable into theconnector until the white line is ablout to the end of the connector. Then put the brown thing down and apply little pressure. Put the mail circuit board back into the phone with the headset jack going in first. Then snap it back into place. Transfer your speaker over the the new back housing with the prongs facing up. Then screw on the back housing. Replace battery and your DONE!!!

Also, i thoguht it would be important to unlock a phone onto verizon

Press 111111 on you phone and press OK to go into options. go to programming. Enter 868666 for your security code. Now go to the bottom and change the service sec. Code to 000000. Then hit back until your back at the programming screen. Go to NAM2 Info. Go to MIN. Hit your back button until all the numbers are cleared. Enter your Cell phone number in it's place.(Including Aera code) Now cheack your MDN, and the number should be the same. (If not alter it to your celll phone number) You should now go to home side. Hit Ok. go to www.bridog.net/cellular/sid.txt
Drop the leading 0's (example- 00030 should be 30) Now go to Extra NAM Info. Press ok on Home Sid/NID and enter your SID number. (the SID code for SID and NID. Make sure they are the same. Exit programming by hitting the END key. (Your phone should restart.) Now you need to go to www.verizonwireless.com and go to my account and click on ACTIVATE PHONE. Enter your ESN number.(You can find this by going to Menu, phone info, scroll down until you see your ESN) dial on your phone *228 and if that dosent work then dial *22801 and if that dosen't work dial *22802.(If none of those numbers work, have the phone updated by an authorised Verizon wireless retailer. Now Verify your PRL. Verizon's should be 42xxx, 50xxx, or 52xxx

    Hey Insane

Hey Insaneinminds. I don't think they are talking about the Remix because the remix just got released about a week ago. These post are way older than that. They are talking about the original Slider SE44.
