Why don't they give you the link where you can download the .JAD?
BTW, this looks a lot like how ReqWireless' WebViewer works. So, you may need the full Internet GPRS plan to get this to work.

I believe it’s a paid service (works thru servers) only available in Norway now.

Do I have to pay for Opera Mini?
No, Opera Mini is free to download and use and does not require any registration fee. Your service provider may charge you for the text messages and network traffic. Pages are reformatted and compressed before being sent to the phone, so they only use about one fifth of their normal amount of traffic.
What are the requirements for using Opera Mini?
Your phone must be able to run Java applications, and GPRS Internet connections. The Opera Mini download will tell you if your phone is supported.
    Privacy and security

Does Opera Mini hold any details about me?
Opera Mini will keep a record of your phone number, make, and model for use with maintaining your history, cache and cookies.

Does Opera Mini keep a record of the pages I visit?
Opera Mini will store the cache, history, cookies, and passwords for pages you visit on the server. You can remove this using Tools > History > Clear from the menu.

Do other users of Opera Mini have access to authenticated or secure pages that I visit?
No. The pages are processed separately for each user. Other users cannot access your information.
Can I access secure sites with Opera Mini?
When you visit a secure site, the server will establish a secure connection to the Web site using the same security as desktop Opera. The information is then passed to the phone using OBML (Opera Binary Markup Language). This connection is not secure.

    Designing for Opera Mini

Can Opera Mini view pages that use HTML, XHTML, WML, and CSS?
The Opera Mini server uses the same engine as desktop installs of Opera, so it has the same capabilities as Opera for desktop. See our Web specifications pages for more details. Pages and images are then reformatted using Opera's Small Screen Rendering technology, and compressed, before being transferred to the phone for use by Opera Mini.
    Can Opera Mini run JavaScript?
During the initial processing, scripts are executed. Once the information is transferred to the phone, Opera Mini's script engine is capable of performing common scripting tasks, such as form validation.

Can Opera Mini run Java, or plug-ins such as Macromedia Flash?
No. Due to memory constraints, Opera Mini cannot run Java or plug-ins.
    Help » Installing Opera Mini

Opera Mini is offered to operators and mobile content providers worldwide, and not as a download from opera.com.

Opera Mini is available in Norway through TV2, and may be downloaded for free by sending an SMS with "Opera" to 1984. This will only work in Norway.

You should be sent a text message in response (this may take up to one hour). Some phones will also receive a bookmark. Open the bookmark, and if your phone is able to run Opera Mini, you should be offered a link to download it.

If your phone does not support bookmarks you can use the link provided in the text message. Either click the link, or open the address in your phone's Internet browser (WAP).

Follow the instructions to download and install Opera Mini. You will be sent a configuration message that should set up your phone to connect to the Internet.

Once Opera Mini is installed, you may be offered the option to open it. If you are not offered this option, you will need to locate it using your phone's menu system.

Your phone may display a message telling you to ensure you have set up an Internet connection or GPRS access point before using Opera Mini. If you have not yet set up a connection, you should do so now.

    It works on T-mobile 4.99 t-zone with the T-mobile proxy 216.155.165.50 :8080.
SE S700, K700, K750 all have been tested.

Do a search on google and you'll find a download link.
To set up proxy just go to the internet setting in your phone. Most recent T-mobile phones are pre-programmed with the new proxy and port.(8080 instead of 9201)

The address I've seen for this aplet is http://mini.opera.com/tv2 but I have not actually been able to download the aplet from that site.

I have obtained and loaded a PRC-ised copy of the aplet for Palm PDAs and actually got it to work (more or less*) via BT to my T-Zones (GRPS) connection. If you are trying this with a Palm you must have first installed the IBM Java runtime environment and you must set the http proxy settings in "Prefs" the proxy is entered as "216.155.165.050:8080"

    Samsung E730?

Does anyone know if the mini browser will work on my Samsung E730 since it only has a WAP 2.0? It has a J2ME feature.
