Okay, I am 'trying' to host the files myself on my server. However, everytime I connect either PC or Phone (wap or http) the files are being DISPLAYED instead of DOWNLOADED.
What do I have to do to make them 'downloadable'? Anybody can tell ?
with my first attempt i downloaded the lowmem .jar, but the SE AI would not let me overwrite it with the .jad - "Program Exists" or something of that nature (sorry, forgot to notate that). i exited the browser and went to Games & More. Opera came so close to working! "Laster." then one dot, then a second, then a third... then it looked like i was running DSL through my T637 as the screen zipped through the OM welcome screen, something else, and then back to the applications menu. so it was a bust.
then i deleted OM, and went back to the browser where i downloaded the lowmem .jad, exited and voila! changed the language, went to penkeye, and now whoever ends up with my T637 won't have to mess with this crap!
I've done the same what penk did - with one difference: while he started Opera successfully for the first time (he says "voila" above), i pressed the back-key (the one under the left softkey) when Opera said "OPERA MINI LASTER". I chose "Exit Application" > [Yes] and started Opera again. Suddenly there was a dot and another one With the forth dot loading was successful
No i'm unsure if it was penks description or exiting Opera while it was (not) loading or both which helped it to run but that's unimportant... It works
Dartrax... I tried to installa the .jar file on my T630 with firmware R6C005, loaded it uo to "opera mini laster", exited and opened again... but it closes and returns to the Games&More menu every time I try.... is there any use for the .jad file?? I appreciate any help.
Go to johnex.se/wap/ and go to the files section, enter the mobiles folder and then the java apps folder, you can find the opera mini there. Download it with your mobile.
I went to this link with my s710a and downloaded the app with no problems. The browswer works great !
Ok.. first of all thank u Penk for the fast reply... I ve encountered another obstacle... the atix link doesnt seem to work anymore so I used the Opera_Mini_low.jad that I already had.... but ive tried to download it from wap from different uploaders but it stays in "downloading file" and then it just displays "download failed"... any ideas?? I CAN dowload other files including the .jar one but the .jad just wont download... any chance of getting it besides WAP? *getting desperate*
i know there are times that the specific settings of a website can determine how a hosted file is viewed by a device, which could affect the potential download ability (ie. .adp sound files and BlackBerry 7100n model handsets). this may be a factor, and simply uploading it to a temporary WAP-friendly site may not quite do the trick. hopefully someone else can clarify this or offer something more.
my only other thought is to look in your Games & More menu group and delete whatever OperaMini app may be there. like many things, starting from a clean slate might be the best bet.
Still no luck... I eliminated all games and apps, tried uploading the .jad file to mobile9, zedge and coolservice, and got the same result "download failed"... Maybe other t6XX users can try it to see if we come up with a solution.. maybe Im overlooking something. Anyways thanx for the interest.

Hello, for retroper from the official Opera-forum it works now, too, and he has summarized now what I and penk have done:
1. I downloaded Opera Mini through the link provided by TV2. The source does not matter.
2. I started Opera Mini, but nothing happened.
3. I hit the back key (under the left softkey) to exit the application.
4. I started Opera Mini again, then it is working.
5. I changed language to English (even though I'd prefer Norwegian).
6. Then I could exit and restart successfully. Without changing language, I was not able to restart Opera Mini, and had to delete the applicatiaon and starting all over again.
It is important to change the language to English after the first successfull start, otherwise it won't start until the next re-install...
Since the atix-server seems to be down here is an alternate download-address: http://felipecn.innereyes.com/2005/08/download-opera-mini/
(But i wasn't able to download this file via wap...)
Thax Dartrax.... my problem starts way before that... i cannot download the .jad file to my phone. At least not from several wap uploaders i have tried.
