WAP and tethering are fairly separate and different. You would need the appropriate tethering feature from VZW to tether.
I figured. Dumb. It's crazy that they made it so insanely expensive just to tether.
I'm ending a year contract with a USB aircard here in a few days. Now that we have decent internet at home via cable, I don't need the aircard anymore. It will be sad to lose the portability, but not the sick bill for mediocre speeds.

As has been stated, you can add the BroadBand Access feature to your phone, and remove it at anytime. It will be pro-rated, so you can add it for only the time you need it, and pay about $2 or so per day.
So ditch the air card and save that $60 per month, and when you need to tether while traveling , add the BBA plan, when you return home remove it.. Not too expensive that way...
i have an lg dare and was wondering if i add the broadbandaccess plan to my phone for tethering will mobile web be included as part of the service? for example, will i be able to surf the internet on my phone's browser without being charged extra? i only plan on adding the broadbandaccess service (no v cast service).

thank you.
These are two separate things. The tethering option does not provide access to the Web from your phone.

However, the thing not clear is whether the $60 tethering plan covers data on the phone as well. Since he has the Dare, he already has ACCESS to the internet via phone browser, just at $2/MB. The way I understand it is that the vPak covers data just on the phone, and the tethering covers data only via tethering. Is that correct?
Is is possible to cancel the plan in My Account? Or does it require a call to a CSR?
Although it is listed as one of your features in My Account online, there is no option to turn it off or on. You must call customer service to do that.

Yeah, based on some recent discussions about this where some knowledgeable VZW representatives weighed in, that's how it seems to work when it comes to feature phones. It's a bit unfortunate given that for PDA and BB phones, which actually tend to use more data and have higher data prices, for $60 total you get both tethering and data on the phone covered.
I realize I must not have enough to do, but I have just finished reading through every single post in this ENTIRE thread! Some of the posts were very informative, others not in the least. The only thing that has stood out to me (and continues to amaze me), is Mark_Venture's seemingly never ending patience! It is truly astonishing how many times the SAME question('s) were asked over and over and over! [/end rant]

Perhaps, but I think it's important to note that this thread is over 3 years old and Verizon has changed it's methods and policies and price structure at least a half dozen times since the thread started. A thread such as this one is dynamic and ever changing.
If you're concerned about space constraints, you could have withheld your last two posts, both of which were redundant and offered nothing fresh to the discussion.

Oh I'm not, which is why I had no reserves about posting. The moderators apparently aren't going to follow that 500 post rule thing so...

This thread needs to be killed and started again with the latest information. Any time VZ changes their policies, the thread needs to start over.
I certainly am not going to read through a 36-page thread. Like most people, we'll just ask the same questions again. It would be nice if the mods were a little stricter with thread lengths. But such is the problem on every large board. Never enough active mods.
At your request thread closed. If someone wants to make a new thread I will sticky it.
