How about instead of posting, you search?

Anyway, you need to dial ##DIALUP fairly fast. It will go Dial-up Networking Enabled. Second. dial ##DEBUG. The phones screen will turn white-ghost like. Press End to clear it, and then press menu button, and then the left soft key. The Phone's screen will clear and say FTS. Press the right soft key until you see a screen with various config options, one being HDR Mode. Scroll down to this one, and change it to cdma. Once you change it, and move off that field, the phone will soft reset. Once FTS reappears, press menu, then left softekey to return you to the home screen. Redial ##DEBUG to disable debug mode again (if it works, the last number will not appear). Your phone is now locked into 1x mode. Now call Verizon Wireless, and have them delete VCAST, and Premiun Network Access off your account, so just National Access Ehncanced Services is on your account. I recommend calling a data rep, they tend to know these things. NA-MOU is only available on American Choice 1 and 2.
If you really expect an interesting signature, look elsewhere ...
    - AT&T *really* amazed me, but their spotty 3G network lost me.

    Thanks, Sonic.

Has anyone confirmed this? Prices on limited data plans? Any of this in print yet?
    Thanks, robrecht

Offically no EVDO phone can tether, but they made is sound like this is changing.

Tethering over 1xRTT is alright if you do NOT have VCAST on your account, and you do not have Premium Network Access and your phone locked to the 1xRTT network. If you have VCAST and tether on 1xRTT or EVDO, you can be terminated (though Verizon will just warn you first).

Tethering over EVDO is not alright unless you have an EVDO data plan.

The $60 dollars 1xRTT National Access plan is no longer available for EVDO phones.

Just to say something, EVDO is FAST, so it's replacing my main broadband access over the net, and $55 dollars for a wired line vs 80 dollars a month for EVDO access in any major city (which also works for me as I do travel quite a bit).
If a VZW rep says "Tethering over 1xRTT is alright if you do NOT have VCAST on your account, and you do not have Premium Network Access and your phone locked to the 1xRTT network" then they must be offering up the info on ##DIALUP. I have not heard of them doing this. Without that mod, there can be no tethering on the E815.

He said that it was an unsupported configuration, and Verizon could not be held liable for the results. He also added though that this should work fine. I used 1x tethering quite heavily w/ the E815 with no ill effects.

    Cellularsales,

What phones are 1x phones, safest for tethering. I am one of those people who want to use my phone as a modem. And use Vcast to do so since I can't afford to pay $720 per year for a data plan.

    **** it! Verizon lied to me. I finally moved into a EVDO zone today (my workplace is in MetroNYC, but my house is outsdie of it). Verizon lied to me, and while that is the option for EVDO tethering, it doesn't apartently work. It's REALLY pissing me off. To repeat, the code listed before is the 80 dollar a month option, but it doesn't work correctly -_-;

So, has anyone received any billing for their EVDO usage yet? I have the VCAST package and the bill says Data Plan: unlimited kb. I've been tethering quite a bit this month and last (about 6 hrs), so we'll see what happens. I also don't have any mention of NationalAccess or Premium services listed on my account and I'm not seeing any billing. If they catch on, I guess I'll have to sign up for that new $59 Unlimited plan.

I'd like to get an unlimited EVDO plan for a cellphone and use it for my laptop internet connection.

If you have a XV6600, i730 or some other broadbandaccess enabled PDA where you pay for unlimited what is wrong with tethering to your laptop? Are there any regular phones (non pda) with "broadbandaccess" instead of just the $15 vcast that I can tether with?

I really don't want to pay for a cell phone, voice account, pc card and seperate data account. For one thing, I don't want to have to carry the extra fragile PC card around, I'd like to just use the phone.

i started a thread called "being charged for data???" or something like that and it was closed and only link in that thread was this one so i gonna put some questions here

i have a local access plan and had vcast added when i got a new lg 8100 with bluetooth usb connector (my phones software is t81vzv01)
i used to have a moto T720c with mobil office kit and i used to use qnc and the 1x network

    i have a problem i think.
i dont remember ever seeing (when i logged into my verizon account the default page "My Account Overview") where it says "data usage" any info ever being there like there is now
my lg8100 phone setup has BT DUN enabled and i keep it in 1x mode

im not sure if im gonna be charged for the data usage of 45megs or not but it does show up when i log in.

it was really getting to me so i called verizon CS and was talking about a couple other things on my bill such as (i thought i add unlimited internet for $79.00) and he said you dont need it cause i have vcast so i was like oooo k.....and i slipped into the question whats that data usage thing on my bill when i log into my verizon acct?
he said that was for my ringtones, pics and text messaging.
i didnt pursue it to much more cuase i was scared cause someone told me that if that is true about the 45megs i would recieve a bill for $2000.00

how can i tell if im gonna be charged for those 45megs in my data usage on my acct
if i press #data on my phone it also sends me a text message saying i used 45megs

can someone tell me how i can verify with out contacting verizon and alerting them?

    TIA
also with only the lg8100 on my plan is there a way to get ev-do unlimited for $59.99?
i would really like to get a data plan to go with this phone but $79.99 a mo plus my voice, phone insurance, RSA, vcast and any other txt messaging and ringers i dload OH and YEA plus like 33% tax on top of my bill is just to much

i think we should be able to get it like the PDAs for $44.95 a month or at least like the aircards for $59.99 a month

if someone can tell me a way to get that $59.99 i would add it.
also for you ppl that do use evdo what kind of pings do u get?

for qnc on my T720 with mobil office kit i was getting a 500ping
    lg8100 with bluetooth i get about 250ping
    TIA again
