if we have one for macs, shouldn't we have one for pc laptop users? (themacace, dont even start. LOL)
anyway you will need
pc laptop/desktop (well duh!)
a bluetooth adapter (if your laptop/desktop already is already BT capable, then you won't need this)
at LEAST a 5.99 data plan or more
bluetooth enabled cell phone
first hook up BT adapter to your computer. if your running windows XP SP2 then it should install the drivers automatically, if you dont have SP2 or running a different windows then use the cd that your BT adapter came with. after that pair your laptop and cell phone together (of course make sure your BT is on your cell) follow the instructions on the computer to pair em together. when you do pair, it should also set up the BT modem.
next set up a new connection. to do that, go to control panel, network settings, and network connections, and creat a new connection. when you click next the first time choose the first option, click next, set up my connection manually, then dial up modem, pick the modem (which should be the BT modem), an ISP name (any should be fine), and the phone number which is *99#, leave name and password blank and set this connection as default
when your done with all of that(sounds hard huh) then go back to control panel, and go to phone and modems, then the tab modems, highlight your BT modem and then properties. go to advance and...
..if you have the 5.99 plan (thanks to krazykritter, for some reason, i couldn't find this in the forums) type this in the box
at+cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com"
19.99 plan
at+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet2.voicestream.com"
19.99 plan with VPN
at+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet3.voicestream.com"
on your phone, make sure you have the settings correct. if you don't have them, we have a sticky to send them to your phone ASAP.
for Internet explorer:
to set the IP and proxy, go to internet options from control panel, connections, (then your network that you use for tmobile) and settings. then where it says proxy service, click the box and type in this address and port
216.155.165.50
8080
firefox users
tools, options, connection settings, manual proxy configuration, then same.
**for opera, and other browser users, please post on how to change the address and port #, thanks)
click your new connection icon and there ya go, you can now browse the internet on your desktop/laptop pc
phew, that was a lot, i probably missed a thing or two (my first time writing a tutorial) hope it works, if you have any problems please post em here, or IM me, thanks
if you're having problems with your Mac tethering to your E61 (or mac to any other v3 series 60 phone) try using the nokia infrared script, *99# dialing number, wap.voicestream.com AP, "wap" username (no " ") and no password, thats what works for me. No username, isnt working and no other username or script is working.
thanks themacace

Ok, I have read through the entire thread and tried different configurations that have been suggested. I have a Palm TX and I am attempting to tether to my K750i via BT in order to surf the internet. I am able to send/retrieve SMS from my Pam -> phone via BT, but my Palm connection settings must be off because I am unable to connect to surf. There seems to be some discrepency as to whether or not to utilize "AT" in the script. Can someone briefly copy/paste their CONNECTION and NETWORK settings please?
Here's what I have for NETWORK:
SERVICE: T-Mobile US GPRS
USERNAME: >blank<
Password: >prompt<
CONNEXCTION: phone
PHONE: *99#
then in DETAILS for that I have:
CONNECTION TYPE: PPP
IDLE TIMEOUT: Never
QUERY DNS: checked
IP ADDRESS: checked, automatic
then on SCRIPT for that I have:
SEND: at&fx1e0v1
SEND CR:
SEND CR:
SEND: at+cgdcont=1,,"wap.voicestream.com"
SEND CR:
SEND: atdt*99***1#
SEND CR:
WAIT FOR:
END
....now for CONNECTION which I have entitled "phone" I have the following settings:
NAME: phone
CONNECT TO: modem
VIA: Bluetooth
DEVICE: K750i
DIALING: TouchTone
VOLUME: Low
then in DETAILS for that I have:
SPEED: 57,600
FLOW CTL: Automatic
INIT STRING: +cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com"
Any ideas where I am going wrong with this? The two devices have paired with each other with no problem and i can transfer data and send SMS, just the internet connection (to surf) does not work.
Thanks in advance.
i read through a few post, but the post has gotten so long....i dunno where to start >.<
i am trying to tethering(is this the correct term) ....get on internet via my cell, which is connected to my lap top using data cable that came with my samsung a 900. i tried to follow the bt instruction on the first page, but i couldn't get my phone to be displayed as a modem. any help?
I can do about 90% of the stuff I would like to do on the internet via the 5.99 proxy. I obviously don't do much...
One problem area is using myspace via the proxy. When I access myspace via my phone (Samsung T509) I can access my inbox, friends' profiles, blog posts, and the like. When I access it via my computer/BT connection Internet Explorer and Firefox give me error messages (looks like a .NET issue).
