I configured all my settings correctly thanks to this thread but keep getting a hardware failure message when trying to connect.
I just got a DKU-5 and it's probably the same thing, a Kingsun, and it doesn't work either, it simply won't connect to my computer. But that has to do with the crappy cable. You got yours on ebay I'm sure...probably from the same seller.

I have a 6230 with a DKU-2 that works just fine, so I'm not ready to discount cables just yet...

Thanks for the guide--I've managed to get my V330 working perfectly. I only have one or two questions about speed. I live in Brooklyn, and from what I've read most people in the city get pretty good edge speeds. According to speakeasy.net/speedtests and broadbandreports I only average around 50-60 kbps down and 10-20 up. I thought Edge was supposed to be at least twice that. Also, my bluetooth connection says 115.2 Kbps--have I set up something incorrectly or is bluetooth slower than Edge? I thought bluetooth could be much faster than that.

    Thanks for any input,

    RFW

Okay I gave in and ordered a Moto V330 for $129.99 @ full retail / no contract from T-Mo. I gotta get a BT dongle and I'll be all set to experiment with this. If it works out well, I'm going to send the phone and dongle over to my relative on the mainland so she can use it.

I have the $2.99 T-Zones...that will be fine, correct? If I send the phone and dongle over to my relative and she adds the $5.99 T-Zones, it'll be fine, correct?

    Thanks again!
Castrol EDGE 5W-30 is my drug of choice.

    Primary: Galaxy Note II & iPhone 5 (AWS): 5 lines, 1x $15 4.5GB data, 3x $2.99 T-Zones (truly unlimited 4G data), myFaves, corp discount + $10/mo loyalty discount = $88/mo tax inclusive

Yeah, what rubbish. The CD that came with the drivers looks barely authentic.. I was looking to get a replacement BLD-3 battery and there were sellers who listed it as genuine Nokia and then later say "aftermarket (not OEM) Nokia branded" - what the heck?

Oh well. My V330 should be here next week and I'll just do it that way. Much easier

Ebay is a jungle! You really have to watch out.

I just traded my DKU-5 for a CA-42, we'll see if that works any better. I did try the DKU-5 drivers from Nokia's site, but it only worked for one file transfer, and after that, it stopped working.

I like eBay.. I'm an active buyer and seller. Just have to read descriptions REALLY carefully.

My DKU-5 (or whatever junk it *actually* is) is sitting around somewhere. I'm gonna trash it.. It's not even Nokia OEM. I used to love buying cheaper generic accessories but now I buy only OEM. More expensive but I am always happy.

w00t! Got my V330 earlier this week and just picked up a BT dongle from CompUSA. All I gotta say is that I'm very impressed. Speed is pretty good and at $2.99/month with my T-Zones, it's awesome

HoFo is the best, I would never have been able to set this up in 5min any other way!

EDIT: I'm posting via my new BT connection..he he.

Yeah, I picked up a CompUSA BT dongle for 35us, it had all the the right drivers even for XPsp1 and XPsp2. Took about 5 minutes to tether thanks to this thread. Class 1 range is 493ft on the dongle and its pretty close to that without walls. I've even able to send files via BT to/from PC to my Nokia 6600 and n70 all while being tethered.

i have 2 phones at my disposal...a blackberry with the blackberry internet plan(my work-supplied phone) and a razr w/no t-zones/internet plan (my personal phone)....

is it posible to use the blackberry as my "modem" or do i need to subscribe to a t-zones plan on my phone...other words, is the blackberry plan able to work?

I tried connecting via the blackberry with no luck, keep getting the mesage that there is no serial port access on the blackberry (i assume i'd connect to the pc via serial port conection using my BT dongle.)

    any help greatly apprecieated.

    Thanks

Anyone have the settings to tether a palm?
Under Connection I added a new connection..
    Name: k750i
    Connect to: local network
    Via: bluetooth
device: k750i (it found it via bluetooth and I entered the security code and whatnot)

Tapped details and set the speed to 115k and left flow ctrl to automatic.

Under network I created a new service that I named GPRS with the following settings
Service: GPRS (this is just a name)
    User Name: a
Password: a (someone told me I had to set something in these fields)
    Connection k750i

Under details for this connection I have:
    Connection Type: PPP
    Idle Timeout: Never
    Query DNS: checked
    IP Address Automatic: checked

and a script with the following:
    Send: ATDT*99#
    Send CR:
    Wait For: CONNECT
    END

When I try and connect it sits there at Initializing and after about 2 mins it fails with this error:
Error: Serial: timed out, check cables, modem, bluetooth or infrared (0x0305)

    Anyone have any ideas?

Wow! This is awesome! I've been trying to figure out how to do this forever but thanks to this post I finally got it! After about a half hour of screwing around with it I got my 6620 to connect via BT. I'm on the old $4.99 tzones and everything is working fine, in fact I am using it now for this post. Although I think I'm going back to my broadband

I gave up on tethering to my Palm Pilot a while ago, though mine is an older one without BT. I got tethering to work BRIEFLY over IR with my old 8290 a few years ago. I like tethering to my laptop much better
