    nokia 8890 successor?

Hi all, I'm in need of a new cell phone, and it has to be one of the so-called "world phones" because i travel frequently between china and north america. i've been looking around and the 8890 seems to be one of the only world phones available, and definitely the best looking. does anyone know of any others that are good competitors to the 8890 that i should be looking at?
also, does anyone know if a newer model of it will be coming out soon? i heard its successor is coming out in january.

<edited because i misused the term triband instead of worldphone>

    Ericsson T68 (900/1800/1900) <--Very nice
    Motorola v60g (900/1800/1900)

no thanks. i like to SMS and i don't like covered buttons or phones made for hands that are the size of a baby's.

is there a data cable option for this phone?

i like the look but i don't like the slide and rice sized buttons =p... it's hard to sms while driving, sitting in class, end so on hehe

what i like about the 8890 is the matte aluminum cover... i want to get one for my 8290 (minus the slide )

yeah, i agree that it does look nice but it's not very practical, and since a phone is a tool/utility first and a fashion statement second (or third, fourth, etc.), the 88xx gets a thumbs down from me.

the 82xx would look nice if it were made with the 88xx material... that would be sweet...

things i loove about the 88xx
    - the aluminum matte finish
    - errrrr that's about it...

    the 82xx rocks!!!

i really really don't like the slide coz i'm going to break it due to the numerous times i need to send or reply to SMS... (1500SMS a month WOOOOT!!)...

SMSing while driving? no problem! i don't even have to look at the phone to SMS while i'm driving or walking or drinking hehe i'm a true addict... it sorta took a while to adjust from the 3390 to 8290 keys though hehe btw, thanx for the advice LOL! i've run a couple or red lights while SMSing and driving =p

    No problem man!
We want you alive and well

I dont SMS from my phone often... unless I am in greece
Having a keyboard as an attachment to my hand (not literally ) and a computer that has internet access all the time I send all my SMSs from the net (unless I am in greece, in which case SMSs fly )
