nice, phone, but it begs the question..... Why pay so much for a cell phone, when u can get a laptop for that amount of money, with wifi, and with hsdpa data card....... then u could use voip to make calls....... I mean, phones are getting ridiculous...

They say it is launching in Europe 1Q 2006 for $600. Even at that price it is great. I am guessing $400 if Cingular picks it up. Like others have said, Cingular won't have any UMTS phones until 1Q 2006. Right now they are just going to have PC cards. This would be a much better launch phone then that LG phone and also with the 6682 having so many problems, they need a new top tier Nokia smartphone.

it doesnt matter when cingular will get it. once it goes on sale, you can buy it unlock/unbranded and pop in your SIM. quadband GSM and dual band UMTS, means it will work fully in the US out of the box.

i agree it is getting a little rediculous, but does a laptop fit in your pocket? and how can you make a VoIP call when you dont have broadband...ie in your car, walking down the street, etc.

Haha. I'll agree, you COULD buy a laptop to do all the same things, but who wants to lug one of those around? And who is going to drool when you pull out a laptop with all that junk. But a PHONE?! Freakin A! I'm not wild about the form factor, sliders never really did it for me, heck, I'm just now getting used to the idea of flips. But this one, holy piss it has everything. AND it's lookin like I may be starting an international position in January, which'd be cool, I could pick one of these up on the cheap in Europe and then still use it with a Cingular pre-pay or whatever when I get home. Food for thought. As you all can see, pictures of a silver (bleh why not black), cingular branded N80 with cingular logos and cingular button. Interesting since this phone doesnt have umts 850 or hspda. The cingular buttons are awefully ugly Mabye i'll have to buy a black, unlocked, and unbranded version when it's out... we'll see we'll see.
