Also, connect you phone to the cable before you launch BitPim. Give the OS a second to recognize the new device.
I tried everything, the computer saw my phone, but bitpim couldn't...

There is no reason I can think of that you shouldn''t see the file system if the drivers and ports are all correct.

No need to reboot until you actually get a file on the phone...
this is not to be rude, but theres only one way to open it??? theres not samsung CDMA moden diagnostic listed??? i wouldnt know any other way to install the drivers???

Make sure you are connecting via the serial port and not the modem

Do you see it in Device Manager? There are two ports one is a modem and the other is a serial port. The modem will be under "modems" and the serial port will be under "ports" You want to select the serial port for Bitpim not the modem. I had a similar issue whe I first got started messing with this.

If you goto the phone settings in bitpim you see a browse button for com port. It should detect something. You have to select the "Samsung CDMA modem diagnostic serial port" It should be something like com5 or com6 or something like that. The exact number isn't as important as being able to see it at all.

Take it one thing at a time. Make sure you see a Samsung CDMA modem in Device manager under Modems and that you have a Samsung CDMA modem diagnostic serial port under Ports (COM & LPT) before anything else. If you don't see these you WILL NOT get bitpim to work.

Nothing rude taken. I would like to clarify a few things. Are you using the Drivers that Cody666 linked in the original 970 USB Drivers thread? (I hope so) Have you ever installed any other samsung drivers for your 970? (I hope not)

If you are using the correct drivers did you ever connect the phone via USB before installing the drivers? (I hope not)

I re-read some of your earlier posts in this thread trying to figure out a few things and I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to when you say "it". In many cases the context is not clear enough for me to know.

    For example,
"its not recognising any com ports"... Bitpim or the computer?
    and,
"but theres only one way to open it"... Bitpim, device manager, the drivers, file system?
    and,
"theres not samsung CDMA moden diagnostic listed"... in Device manager, bitpim? (the former would preclude the latter)

I am happy and willing to explain how I got it working but with the many intricate details of possible solutions to your difficulties I could type for a week while only two senteces could solve the problem. I know this works reliably as I've about a half dozen tones on my phone already.

I would also like to add that you have to click the "+" sign in the File System window for it to actually show the tree.

In any case consider some of the questions and post your answers, maybe we are both missing something.

    Cheers.

    P.S.
I've seen you posting photos in other threads. I have screen shots showing most everything I've talked about they are small files <50k each but I don't know how to post them so they show up. I could PM them to you but I have never done that either.

Perfect! I am glad to hear that! Disregard my post above this. Except maybe the post script. I have an awesome photo of a lizzard that I took a few days ago that would go nicely in the 970 pic o the day thread. I just don't know how to get it hosted.

this method doesn't work for me... i can see my phone under COM and LPT in device manager. And device manager recognizes it when selecting a device, but after that if i click detect phone, it says cannot detect/recognize your phone...help. I installed the driver and bitpim.

What happens when you connect you phone to you mac?

    I'm mac-less right now, but here's a

Script for Samsung Phone (General CDMA): http://www.taniwha.org.uk/files/SamsungGeneric.sit

    from: http://www.taniwha.org.uk/

generic Verizon Wireless Standard Driver. Try that: http://homepage.mac.com/jrc/contrib/...STD_Driver.hqx
    Mirror: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/maccellphone/

Plunk this driver down in your /Library/Modem Scripts folder. Then, let’s dig in!

All this works if I want to use the sound as my default ringer , but if I want to use it as a custom ringer (i.e. assign it to a contact) it doesn't show up. Any idea as to how to make it so it does show up?
