    1. Go to GET IT NOW
    2. Get Tunes & Tones
    3. Select the ringtone that you've imported
    4. Press Options (right softkey)
    5. Select "Set As Ringer ID"
    6. Then select the contact to associate with this ringtone
Yea, that was already answered several posts ago. Scroll up.

BitPim doesn't have builting in support for our phone, that's why the instructions say to select Other CDMA Phone

I've also connected using the SGH-A940 (sprint) profile in BitPim .802

Thanks guys! I was starting to loose faith in my new friend but now its amazing again. (I love my a970!)
Anyway, last night I purchased a data cable for my phone. I was reading this forum today and saw that people said the cable that worked with the sch-a670 also works with the sch-a970. Well, I bought a data cable last year for my sch-a610 (which I knew was also compatible with the sch-a670) . So anyway, I just hooked up my old sch-a610's data cable to my new sch-a970, AND IT WORKS! YAY! Too bad I spent $7.80 on something I didn't need.

    <EDIT>
If you are like me a don't have a minisd card, to transfer photos from your phone to your computer using the data cable

This worked for me too, but Idid find a weird problem. I transfered an mp3 file that had a long name and was quite big in size. The song showed up in my song list, but didn't play. So I selected "erase" and the phone confirmed that it was erased, but the file is still on my list. So I wne tinto Bitpim and browsed the filesystem, and the song is still there. I then deleted the file in Bitpim and that seemed to work. The file disappeared from the filesystem, but when I browse the tones through the phone, it is still listed. Anyone have any ideas? Is there a way I can reset the phone to remove the file from the phone's list? I did a "reset phone" from the "security" menu, but that didn't clear it.

I've tried reloading it with bitpim, but I haven't had any luck. I'll give it another shot. If it doesn't work, could I take my phone in to Verizon and have them do some kind of complete phone reset?

Update: I transferred the song again and tried to delete it, but no luck. The song is still listed under my "tunes and tones" menu. The mp3 also shows up when viewing the filesystem through Bitpim.

i am really confused here. I am decent with computers and stuff like this but this is way too much information too fast for me. I dont understand all this com stuff for bitpim. Another thing i dont know how to do is edit my songs to make it a ringer using bitpim. I have music on my computer and bitpim downloaded but that is as far as i got. Could anyone give me some kind of easy guide how to edit songs because i am completely lost here.

While this is off topic from the thread I will give you some guidelines. To start with I own a recording studio and have a number of excellent but very expensive audio editing tools. That said I don't even know of a free audio editor with the exception of cooledit96. They exist but don't ask me what they are.

Anyway you need an editor or combination of editors with three abilities.
    1. Convert an mp3 to a wave file.
    2. Edit the wave file to the desired length.
    3. Convert the wave back to mp3.
(editors that say they edit mp3 are still doing steps 1 through 3 even though they don't describe it that way.)

That will get you in the territory of having a compatible file to put on your phone. Get that far and we can get into the bitpim thing as outlined at the beginning of the thread.

sorry to be off topic, im just a little new to this. So youre saying bitpim doesnt edit songs i have on my computer already to the size i would need to use them as a ringer? If its not free, how would i go about doing this? It seems like a alot of people are making their own ringtones - what program is everyone using to do this? Thanks for the help.
