I just got a razr last week, but i've noticed the battery life seems to be really short. I charge it overnight, but then by about 1pm the next day it's already at 2 bars. Is this normal or is the battery messed up?

Your battery is probably messed up. Mine last with 3 bars with mild to heavy use throughout the day until around 11pm. Then it goes down to 2 bars.

I'm having similar problems with a used RAZR I bought off a friend. It's probably just about a year old now. I have flashed it to R374_G_0E.42.0ER. Depending where I'm at I either charge it with a USB cable (at work), V3 Charger from a Cingular store (in the car), or the wall charger that came with it (at home). At first it appeared to charge normal, all the way up to 3 bars and then work it's way down, but it only took about 48 hours to drain, which concerned me. Then it was more like 36 hours from full charge to low battery warning. Now it won't even charge all the way. Saturday night I left it on my wall charger all night, in the morning the battery indicator was still flashing with only 2 bars. When I unplugged it, it went to 3 bars, but within an hour it was showing 2 bars, by last night, only 12 hours after removing it from a 12 hour charge it was on low battery. So, last night I put it back on the wall charger before bed, this morning I unplug it and it's instantly to 2 bars. I got into the car to head to work and put it on my car charger, for my 45 minute commute, unplug it at work, still 2 bars.
I'm trying to figure out if the problem is the charger(s), the phone, the flashing, or the battery? Right now this phone is pretty useless. Oh, I forgot to mention, I have bluetooth turned off (which is driving me nuts because I have a bluetooth car kit, and headset, but don't want to waste the battery anymore), and the phone is not heavily used. For example yesterday I probably spent a whopping 10 minutes of talk time and maybe about 5 minutes of GPRS data usage, that was it.
My wife and I both bought V3's about a week ago. Neither of our phones last 20 hours on a charge, with maybe 20 minutes of talk time or less per day.
I think I may have fixed my problem by following advice on another forum. What I did was run my battery all the way down until it powers itself off. I did this quickly by running a video loop until it died. Then I charged it overnight with the phone powered off. I am now up to 48 hours, with 2 out of 6 left on the battery meter. I have had Bluetooth on the entire time, actually paired with my car kit for about 6 hours over the 48 hours and have used about an hour of talk time, maybe a bit less. Conditioning the battery like this seems to have helped, a lot.
Two things do affect the RAZR battery charge life...using a car charger and using different rated chargers. The car charger is usually the culprit as it rapidly charges the battery to full but due to the way it charges the battery rapidly the battery is not truly fully charged and depletes rapidly. The house chargers on the other hand have been very quirky lately. It seems like there are multiple batches of house chargers out there with different amperage ratings. We have seen certain chargers not work with certain batteries having different mah ratings. Most of the V3 USB chargers that are true Moto chargers are 550ma chargers but we have seen some other Moto branded chargers that are not 550ma and it seems like they are knockoffs and do not perform as well as the true Moto's. There are also a LOT of different batteries out there and some are great with others being terrible, I noticed the batteries that come with the Euro models are not as good and could be due to the chargers being 110/220 volt 50/60 hertz.
Interesting that you mentioned the euros. that's where my new razr came from, unlocked and unbranded. just the way i like it. but i charged it fully last night. took it off charge at 7am. by noon it was 2bars. by 2 it was 1bar.
Hmm I have had the phone now for 6 months and the battery is seriously diminished. I get maybe 8 hours from it even if I spend only 10 minutes on the phone. Must be a problem.
I go through 2 batteries a night with my v3i just like I did with my v3, so dont feel bad. I'm a heavy user and It's nothing for me to drain a full battery in a single converation...so what if its 3 hours long! lol I simply scooped up 10 new batteries from e-bay for $6 each, so it's not an issue! lol

I use my phone extensively throughout the day always attached to my Bluetooth and my bluetooth always dies before my Razr. I have been happy with its battery life, way better than the V710 I also own.
