yes. it better you wait for 10-20 minutes after you switch your ESN, then call *228 >1
Thanks so much. This is the first I had heard that you have to dial *228>1 after you change the ESN online. I had no idea that this was required until now; its definitely nice to know, lol Merry Christmas!
You may still not be able to activate the V3c online due to it being a V Cast phone. Most of the time the online esn changer does not work for V Cast phones.
Online activation works for me and switching my vx9800 and vx7000
Ya...just bought my little bro a used 8900 and the programing errored the first time....called emergency supprt...fixed. Thanks for the info and knowledge I have aquired from this side of the site.
forget *228 option 1 nonsence... do *22890 and let it go, does EVERYTHING then in 45 seconds it will say programming complete. That's it. I do ESN changes all day, sometimes (like Thurs. Fri. Sat. & Sun.) the system can be kinda slow, so wait a no more than 2 minutes to *22890. Every other day, wait no more than 10 seconds and you'll be fine. FYI
If I don't have an unused vzw phone, I have to use that dummy ESN if I'm swapping two phones, right?
Yes, that is what is implied- although I was never able to get the online ESN changer to work, so I can't vouch for it personally.
On a similar note, I called Verizon Customer Service Christmas day and surprisingly enough there were people at the phones! I wanted to change ESNs since I couldn't online, and there was where the fun began . The first person I spoke to, he offered to do a 3 line ESN switch for $20 (after notifying me that it is usually $60). Second time I called, I got a woman who told me that she could not do it for $20- the best she could do is waive one phone and do it for $40. I immediately called back again. This time, I got a really nice woman who, after explaining my online ESN changer predicament, offered to switch the ESNs for free! While I am ever so grateful for this last CS Rep, what is up with the first two? Offering two different price points for the same service? And the most outrageous- getting it for free it the end? I sense commission. Do VZW employees get to tack on whatever price points they want on this stuff? Its outrageous for them to charge for something that they offer for free online, especially when it doesn't even work half the time! Last I looked, helping the customer was supposed to be what CS was paid for- not that the consumer would have to pay them on top of that! What I have learned most of all from this experience is that if you call VZW CS and don't get the response or price point you want the first time, try try again. Eventually you will. And for this reason alone, the prices VZW charges you to begin with seem shady. Thanks for bearing with me on my rant, lol. I'm just really grateful for that wonderful CS Rep on Christmas afternoon!
We really need VZWEmployee or the like to explain the ESN thing across the board. The online ESN changer MUST be market specific because I know for a fact that I can not go from VCast to non-VCast or vice versa using the online changer.
OTOH I have NEVER been informed about $20 ESN change charge by any CS Rep. Are these two phenomenons linked?

Can the ESN be changed on SANYO SCP-200? ( Service Provider is SPRINT PCs )[B]
I told you. Verzion is charging $20 for ESN Switch. It is basically ripped off. They want to make every pennies out of it. In my opinion, ESN switch should be 100% free. We are paying a lot of money for the phone. Their cellphones are very pricy...
