That dummy ESN didn't work for me, so I just went ahead and tried switching between the two phones without moving one line away first - it worked on the website with the first line but I couldn't activate the phone because I guess I ended up with two lines on one ESN. I suppose that was to be expected! Perhaps I could have gone ahead and moved one line off to the old phone, but at that point I started to get a little worried about having two unusable phones and/or lost numbers, so I just called verizon.

The rep was very nice and walked me through swapping the two phones. No mention of a charge, so I guess I lucked out (or I will see it on my bill).

When I asked, the rep confirmed that a third, unused vzw phone (as mentioned here) is the easiest way to do this. Hopefully the next time I do this I will actually have one available!

Ok since you guys seem to know this stuff I though i would ask you here....

I now have a Samsung SCHA650 VZW Phone (NON VCAST)...

I am purchasing a LG VX8200 (The new VCAST One if thats the right number)

Can i change the phone service from my old phone to my new one ONLINE without having to use another old phone or using the dummy ESN...

Ordo i need to take it to a VZW Store and let them switch it for me and charge me?

    Wich is easier and better

    THANKS SO MUCH!

    sorry, just a little rant..lol

i will just be sure to use the Online ESN changer.
