    Alltel,

    The Great ESN Switch

Hey all, I have a family share plan that will soon include a 3rd additional line. Currently, on my line (primary), is a LG VX6100; on the secondary, a LG VX4500; and on this new 3rd line, will be the Motorola RAZR V3c (so I can take advantage of the new line/ new activation 2 year discount). However, after the V3c is activated on the new line, I want it to be my phone. So when it all shakes out, I want my primary line to work on the V3c, my secondary to work on the VX6100, and the new 3rd line to work with my VX4500. Is there a fairly seamless way to get this done? Thanks for your time!

Well, you'll need an extra phone to change to in the mean time... Eg:

Switch line 1 to phone X
    Switch line 3 to VX6100
    Switch line 1 to RAZR

However, this will be a pain because two of your existing phones are not EVDO and RAZR is. Online ESN change might not work when changing between EVDO and non-EVDO phones.

Besides, it does not make sense: you agree to pay $10/month for 2 years = $240 just to take advantage of the discount pricing?? Why not get it full retail in the first place and put it on a long 0% APR credit card?

Maybe he needs to add a third line anyways? So, he's not adding it just to take advantage of pricing. How I see it is that he needs to add a third line, and neither of his two other lines are currently eligible for an upgrade.

what u should do is get NOT at a corprate store, but at an authorized agent location... advantages... 1. Your going to do 3 ESN changes, and @ $20 an ESN change that expensive. BUT authorized agents don't apply to this rule, they can do it for free. 2. Transferring your phone from your old phone to the other. Corp. store charges $10 bucks. Autherized Agent = FREE. So it's going to save you $70 bucks that way.

Also, authorized agents sometimes give you discounts on pricing. For example, my brother got a T-mobile sidekick 2 for $50 after mail in rebate while retail stores wanted over $200 for it.

You could always use the dummy ESN number which is 13800111111. This dummy esn is usually used by VZW CSR's when someone wants a line to stay active without a phone.

Thanks man, didn't know there was such a thing.

Think I could get the V3c just as easily on the 12th from an authorized agent, as I could from a corporate store?

May I ask how exactly this would be done?

    Here's how I understand it:
Switch Line 1 (VX6100) to dummy ESN. (This empties the phone out of Line 1)
Switch the RAZR V3c (initially registered with new Line 3 number) to Line 1.

However, what do I do with my old LG VX4500, and Line 2? Could someone explain this a little more in depth? I'm hazy on this sort of thing.

Once again, when all is finalized I want my:
    RAZR on line 1
    VX6100 on line 2
    VX4500 on line 3

    Currently it is:
    VX6100 on line 1
    VX4500 on line 2
    RAZR (soon on Line 3)

    Thanks for bearing with me!

Anyway to manually activate verizon phone?

I have a question.. Is there anyway to manually activate a phone with verizon wireless? I have a new phone that I want to activate, but do not want to call CS and I cannot do it on the VZW web, my company owns the account and it is a pain to get intouch with telecom and have them put the request in... I remember, you could manually program a Cingular phone way back when.. Wondering if that can be done with a Verizon phone... As long as the phone I am trying to activate is a verizon phone, will it work? Any details on how to would help or where to find the info... THanks!

No. The closest you can get to manual activation on Verizon is entering the NAM settings manually, but a CSR or the web page must be used to attach the ESN to your computer.
If you really expect an interesting signature, look elsewhere ...
    - AT&T *really* amazed me, but their spotty 3G network lost me.

Just switch line 1 to dummy ESN/unactivated phone (Freeing up VX6100)
Move line 2 to VX6100 (Freeing up VX4500)
Move line 3 to VX4500 (Freeing up RAZR)
    Move line 1 to RAZR

    Good luck!

You may still not be able to activate the V3c online due to it being a V Cast phone. Most of the time the online esn changer does not work for V Cast phones.
