Does VZW use ported numbers w\ activation

Hi, I just activated a inpulse phone w\ VZW and the number they gave me belongs to nextel so does Verizon recycle ported in numbers? Like example: Joe doesnt like nextel so he ports his number to VZW and say he is moving to where theres no verizon service so he cancels. So does his ported nextel number go into the number pool for new numbers? And no, no1 else besides nextel uses the prefix here the prefixes for VZW are 320, 401, 906 i got 308: http://www.fonefinder.net/findome.ph...mber&cityname=

Actually, this is a split prefix. In congested area codes, prefixes are divided into 1000 number blocks. 530-308 is shared by Nextel and Verizon Wireless. See this site to see all the carriers in a prefix. This is becoming common in California.

As for the original question, if a number is disconnected it returns to the original carrier.
