It's easier to just rename the *.mp3 extension to *.3gp while the file is on your computer, then transfer it to the phone either by using the TF/MicroSD card or sending it to the phone via bluetooth.
If you feel that you have to correct some of my posts for my capitalization of some of my words, then just bear with it. It's just a discussion forum where some may be limited by time to answer in well-versed and eloquent sentences.

I already got a PHD (Plain High School Diploma) so ignore my style of writing and I'll ignore your ignorance.

Thanks to T809.Blogspot.com on the renaming thing.
But moving it to the phone was vauge. So.......

T809SAM Work around to Move to The Phone...
    NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I couldn't use the Samgung PC Suite to move the XXXXXXX.3gp to the phone!

Even though it let me rename it on my computer, When I went to MOVE to PHONE It detected something.

I had to use steps 1 - 10 to get it moved to the phone to work.

    SO..
1 I setup my USB to STORAGE in the Setup Menu of the phone!
2 Then with MY COMPUTER I selected the Phone's Drive Letter.
3 Find the MUSIC Folder on the Phone. This is the MEMORY CARD! NOT THE PHONE!
4 Go to your Folder on your computer where your music is. Rename as Filename.mp3 - TO - Filename.3gp
5 Copy the Renamed file to the phone's Memory Card - folder - MUSIC.
    6 Now here's the magic.
7 Unplug the phone from the cable & go to the phone's memory card folder:
MUSIC -Fun & APPS -FILEMANGER -MEMORY CARD -MUSIC Folder -OPTIONS .
8 Select the the Filename.3gp - Set as a Ringtone or Caller ID Ringtone!
9 It will ask to be moved to the phone... YES.
    !0 ENJOY!!

Note:You can Dump your MP3's to the Memory Card Via Phone and then Rename them Via USB Storage then Move back to phone.

And I'm sure there are other ways also.
    This just worked for me.

    Again Enjoy!

wow! dont think youre so clever, that way of fixing the problem has been on here for months, do some research there inspector gadget before you get such a big head, freakin idiot

you dont need to do that. I just got mine today and uploaded some mp3's to it and I just clicked on the grayed out name of the one I want, go back hit save, and it will still look like its the original ringtone, the next time you go back or you call yourself it will have the mp3 you chose as your ringtone.

Exclamation Need help with new ring tones for t809

My t809 came with a cd to cut and download music to it. I have been able to cut songs and download them to my phone but it wont set the songs as a ring tone. I have blue toothed the cut song to friends and the ring tones work fine for them. Is there another program i can use that i can cut and send to my phone that will actually play it as a ring tone?
