Okay, I'm going to try and revive what I've seen from various individuals on this board and my recent personal tests to see if resoultion exists.
I used to have a Nokia 6820b with a HS810 and HS850 headsets...they worked pretty much flawlessly from a connectivity perspective.
My wife had a V600 w/ Bluetrek G2 headset (I think that's the model). I recently learned she had 'bluetooth signal weak' but seemed to be only in our house.
Last week we both upgraded to v557s, mine w/ H700 headset and her w/ the G2 headset. Testing results in the house:
-v557 w/ HS850: bluetooth signal weak, eventually disconnect
-V557 w/ H700: bluetooth signal weak, eventually disconnect
-V557 w/ G2: bluetooth signal weak, eventually disconnect
This was with either phone...
So to me this seems to be conducive to just motorola phones, I've seen similar posts on V3s and V551s as well. Can anyone concur? And more importantly has anyone found a solution? Of course calls to the provider (Cingular) and manufacturer proved completely useless which is really sad.
BTW, I believe in my home it's caused by the wireless baby monitor running at 2.4GHZ. Unplugging it seems to solve the connectivity issue. However given the fact my Nokia had no problems whatsoever in the same environment I am very disappointed w/ the bluetooth performance of my V557, enough to consider trading it in for anything else.
I did do a search, hence how I found other people seemed to have similar problems and since I did not see a definitive answer from any of said threads I threw this out there again.
Soooo...anybody solve this other than unplugging anything thats 2.4ghz in their house? And/or is your problem not isolated (i.e., wherever you go you experience this in some fashion?)
Hm... I'm having this problem too.. but I haven't try unplug the cordless phone that is also using 2.4ghz yet, maybe I'll try that tonight. Its funny how the phone is just right beside me while it display BT headset's signal is weak.
let me know how it goes. i'm fustrated enough to dump motorola....it's sad. i will look into either the sony w600i or nokia 6682 (if it's even available).
I have used 2 different Motorolas, v525 and now v360v. My Bluetooth headphone is great Bleuiatake G3 (it need to be charged every 4-5 day if I speak every day more than an hour).
I rarely get Signal weak, I have seen it maybe 3-4-5 times in the last 1,5 year. Ocassionaly (few times a month), the BT link on standby breaks and reconnects for no obvious reason. I do not have any traffic, but lots of WLans might influlence this.
Keep in mind, that before you had this problem, your neighbour might not have something that makes disturbance now
I have a HS850 headset and have used it with several phones (Motorola V330, RAZR V3 and a T-Mobile MDA). With both Motorola phones I have experienced the Bluetooth signal weak problem. I have tracked the problem down to interference from several 2.4GHz devices. Most notably wireless video cameras at a client's office, a Panosonic microwave oven and a wireless microphone at my office, and a Bluetooth connection I use in my car from my iBook to another phone. All of these items are of course 2.4GHz. The problem does not occur when I use the MDA with the headset or with my new Plantronics 320 Bluetooth headset with any of the phones.
Overall I like the Plantronics headset better anyway, it is louder when needed and is more adjustable. So far I have found no way to eliminate the interferance other than not being around other 2.4GHz devices.
I've seen the problem on 2 different Razr phones, the V360, and using the H500, the H700, and one other non-moto supposedly very high quality BT earpiece. The problem seems to be LESS troublesome using the less-expensive H500 earpiece.
At times, the "weak signal" problem and BT total disconnect occurs with the devices no more than ONE FOOT apart. There is also the very annoying randomly repeated "connect" blip in the earpiece. Some days it's worse than others.
I too, suspect it's interference from 2.4GHz spread-spectrum phones in the apartment complex (I can't compel neighbors to buy new phones) But, it's certainly possible that the Moto phone circuitry is more affected than some other phones.
There is also a 2.4GHz spread-spectrum wireless cam in use, and I can report that the problem appears to be significantly reduced (but not 100% gone) when the cam power is turned-off.
I have not had access to non-Moto cell-phones with BT.
I believe the micro-wave and a poorly shielded CD player also cause massive RF interference in this frequency range when in use, possibly swamping the front end of the receivers. Both devices are notorious as RF noise producers.
There is also a randomly occuring "static" kind of sound in the earpiece. It's not always present. This sound also seems to occur in stores like Wal-Mart, Sams Club, and so on. Might be all the consumer electronics (including wirless cams) on display, surveillance, and anti-theft gear in those stores as well.
I have had V360, PEBL, RAZR V3, and V195. The RAZR and V195 I had no problem with weak Bluetooth signal. The PEBL and V360 were abysmal. Upon further research I found that the V 360 and PEBL use class 2 power BT about one tenth the power of the Class one rated BT of the RAZR and V195. That much lower power seemed to be a hindrance. Also, some BT headsets I have tried were lacking. The lacking, noisy ones were Plantronics 320, 640 and a Jabra snake looking one BT250v? The H500 was troublesome on disconnecting with a weak signal indication, but the BT link was not as noisy as with the previous models. The best I have tried in headsets was the Cardo Scala 500. I still think the largest hindrance is the Class 2 low power BT from the handset. I guess the CDMA RAZR's use the low power BT. Can't say what else, though. Class 2 low power definitely sucks.
I'm having a similar problem with my RAZR. I just bought a Motorola H3 headset and it SUCKS with the RAZR. I can't even put the phone in my pocket and talk on it. It's not the headset, it's the RAZR as the headset works flawless with my old Ericsson T610. I have a small house (1200 SQ FT) and with the ericsson in the middle of all 4 walls I can go pretty much anywhere with the H3.
I've had this RAZR for almost a year and needless to say I'm disappointed with it's BT performance. I'm about to go phone shopping. It's unacceptable for the distance from my right pocket to my ear to be to far for proper connectivity.
I guess I am one of the few. I have Exc recption on mine.. I forgot i had my head set on walked out to my car to lock it about 30 or so feet from where i left my cell and it worked great No Static or any thing. also have severel Cordless phones that run on 2.4 G and they dont afect it eather..
I have a V3 RAZR with an H500 bluetooth headset. I only get the "Bluetooth signal weak" only when I am in my home. Also in my home I have an 802.11g Netgear wireless router. Both the bluetooth & wireless router use a similar frequency at 2.4GHz.
I called Motorola Technical Support and asked if the "Bluetooth Signal Weak" could be caused by interference from other devices in my home that use 2.4GHz. He put me on hold for a few minutes and finally cam back and said "YES" all Motorola wireless phones will be prone to this weak signal phenomenon. He went on to say that some of his coworkers have had this problem using Bluetooth while in an enviornment that has other devices using 2.4GHz (cordless phones, wi-fi, etc.)
