my carrier is bell mobility.. and they are not blocking mp3 as a ringtone... who is your carrier? others with the same can chime in as to whether or not it is in fact disabled in the phone
If all you want are ringtones you don't have to hack your phone. You will have to pay Verizon to transfer via their "vzwpix.com". I have transferred mp3 ringtones to my E815 using this method without any problem whatsoever. Some others have found that they need to change the file extension to ".mid" (I have no idea why). Also I believe ringtones can be maximum 30 seconds in length.
Hi all, new here, just got me a Verizon e815. So, Motodob; how are you uploading MP3s to VZWPix? I get an error if I try to upload any "audio/mpg" file...
I downloaded a couple samples of songs from walmart.com (their music sample are exactly 30 seconds long), then emailed them to myself (10digitnbr@vzwpix.com). They should arrive in your message inbox. Once there you can "read" (play) them as you would any other message. Use the menu button (top enter) for options about storing, setting as ringtone, etc. I had no problem whatsoever. If for some reason that doesn't work for you, make a copy of your download and change the file extension to ".mid" and send it to your phone. Good luck...let me know how it turns out.
