AIM is free and if you just get the data is 29.99 and month, if you have a voice plan the data is 19.99 on top of the voice. I suggest you get the insurance too. (5.99) monthly because kicks tend to break.

So does Data mean internet surfing?
I can live with just AIM.
So, what's the bare minimum I can pay for just a plan and no data?

    Kickass.
One more question; another member on this sub-forum said that he got his Sidekick II for free with a 1 year contract. How much is that? I couldn't find a mention of it on the T-Mobile website.

It could have been free maybe after rebates. The activation was probaly done through an authorized dealer. Shop around, T-Mobiles site won't have prices that a local dealer might have.

That was my thinking. God forbid a wireless dealer should be convenient.

find a legit authorized dealer with good prices...

I dont see why people insist on Direct stores...
you only deal with the dealer for 30 days.
the rest is thru T-mobile no matter what.
if it aint free, it costs too much

Yes that is a very good suggestion. I actualy work for and indirect dealer of T-Mobile, Sprint (iDEN and CDMA), and Cingular. You definatly want to deal with a company that doesn't have a history of shady operations.
