NEWBIE Post - Seems like the Treo 700 is much much better than any Blackberry, which is simply an email device. Does Treo's technology allow the user to receive work emails real time? If so, why would anyone even use a blackberry?

    Thanks in advance.

That's the major advancement of Windows Mobile 5.0. That OS allows "push" e-mail comparable to the Blackberry as long as two things are in effect:

    1. The device has the AKU2 update(Messaging and Security Feature Pack) which has not been pre-loaded on many WM 5.0 devices released to date. Conflicting reports show the update being pre-loaded in the upcoming Treo 700w, but other reports suggest it will be available in March 2006. I don't think anyone has concrete info that the 700w will be "push" capable out of the box.

    2. You are running Exchange Server 2003 SP2.

Verizon doesn't offer any trade up programs that I have heard of and if they did it wouldn't be worth it. I would say sell your I730 there are users who want them.

Don't know if its been posted Yet, But I called CC they explained to me that ne2 will aplly to the 2 yr discounted price. For ex the treo 700 is 499.99 with 2 year aggrement. when your ne2 is applied to that price is now 399.99 would I be correct?

I will check my b2b discount to see if I could get it cheeper that that.

    what are all your thoughts

Out of curiosity, VZW Employee did you send this in? If not do you suppose that the pictures were sent in from somewhere else or were taken from HoFo?

I ask because HoFo is a great resource.

I'm not trying to start a fight or accuse anyone of anything, just pointing it out.

That's how it's always worked. The NE2 discount comes off the 2yr price, so if a phone is $499.99 with 2yr contract, with your NE2 the phone is $499-$100 = $399.99.

I just noticed that and while the story is linked to here msmobiles has their tag in the picture. My suggestion is VZWEmployee needs some kind of watermark in his pics, its only fair.

Not much help if your email is some sort of webmail (yahoo, AOL, etc.). Blackberry can handle those types as well.

wow! They so stole my pictures and info. I don't really care tho. Anyone know how to watermark pictures? I don't really know what program to use. Plus look at when I posted my info. They just posted that today after stealing it from me. At the bottom they do link to my thread tho.

Adobe Photoshop seems to be the program of choice among most people, but is overkill for such a simple procedure. Here are some resources: http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/batchwatermarking/

Can HoFo set something up so that you can upload photos and watermark them? I didn't want to just to any conclusions and accuse anyone of anything in my previous post but now that VZW Employee confirmed that the pictures were 'borrowed' without permission perhaps someone should request the MSMobiles remove the watermark and properly attribute the source.

The phone goes on retail sale 1/5/06. What is the window that VZW will continue to provide the advanced device discount (e.g., do we have to buy it on 1/5 or will we have say 30 days thereafter?)

1/5 Release info known by all reps?

Hey VZWEmployee - what's the source of the screenshots you posted earlier re: 1/5 release on all channels (and the earlier info). Not b/c I doubt you, but b/c I was wondering if I was to go into my local VZW store, would the in-store reps now have some idea of what I'm talking about? Last time I asked them about it they had no clue. Reason is that I want to go in and see if they will hold one for me when it releases on the 5th and/or confirm that they will have it on the 5th.

    Thanks!

Just ask the rep to look in infomanager within equipment guide & they will see it right there as coming soon.
