    Roaming and WM5?

So, when one roams with this phone, will data services still be available? Will my Good work wherever?

Also, what happens when roaming in Canada for example. My voice service works, while data does not. Those on GSM can get data.

Also, any speculation on when/if WM5 will roll out, and can this device be upgraded?

    Thanks.

roaming in Canada is something you have to call VZW Tech Support for and they will turn it on. VZW has a 1xRTT roaming agreement with TELUS. I have a Blackberry 7250 and get data coverage in Montreal 95% of the time. Watch out, though, they charge you a good 15 cents per KB, I think.

    Update:
For those of you who are waiting for the Windows Mobile 5 upgrade for the I830. I have found good info pointing towards a late June release. More to come as I get it.
Keep on rocking in the free world!

So this is off the vzw site, what do they mean when they say "Wireless Sync email"
If they disable bluetooth, and have no wi-fi.
Does that mean they sync to the vzw network, and you pay airtime
    to sync the device ??

With no camera and expansion card, missing wi-fi, and headset only
bluetooth, this phone is just asking to be a dud.

I was thinking it really had potential, but unless you need the world
travel I have not see any good reason to look here.

Guess I should have read the first post a little closer.

That say SD slot, but they missed that on the data page.

Also I see you put Bluetooth, is that like full, sync with my laptop bluetooth ??

Still no wi-fi is a killer. Foreign travel is not a biggie for me.

I do like the form factor much more than the Treo's though ...

Just picked up an i730. Nice unit. Great screen. The keyboard takes some getting used. It is very fast, much faster than the 700w. Where the 700w got very slow when I uploaded my contacts, the i730 purrs along. I suspect the i830 won't be much different. It was not in the stores when I picked my unit up on Monday.

Can't be done. The i830 is a CDMA phone, not a GSM phone.

i830 is also a gsm phone for use in europe. has frequencies for there for gsm use. but does not have frequencies for us carriers, and most likely not for canada either since they use same as us carriers for gsm. but sim card may be locked to vzws other part owner.
