Well, I don't remember reading anywhere that it was manufactured by audiovox, so I just assumed it was like all of the HTC apache varients. Looks like siemens might be the manufacturer.Originally Posted by Perceptions

Keep it going..I like having all the info on one thread.
When Cingular can offer performance UMTS/HSDPA in as many markets as Verizon or Sprint offers EVDO they, or a HoFoer can justify their pricing.Originally Posted by dstrauss

When this comes out it will be my first smartphone. When I first got interested in this phone I was planning on just getting the $20/month 5MB data plan, but judging by the fact everyone is talking about unlimited, 5MB is not enough. Can someone please give me an idea of which plans would be good for what kind of usage. I would be using it for email and surfing the web when needed. In a few weeks I was going to be going on a trip and was planning on not taking my laptop and just using this thing (if I get it beforehand that is).
toyfreak, the only downside to the prophet that I have seen/read is that there will be no keyboard. So, it's really not the same device (a more enhanced 2125). The Hermes appears to the be the next generation of the 8125 but with double the processor and the video camera in front (for video calls). I don't see how the Hermes will come in near the same price as the 8125. If I'm wrong regarding the Prophet not having a keyboard then please for give me, I'm going of the info I got from here: http://www.mobile-review.com/pda/rev...ophet-en.shtml
Anyone know if the 8125 has some kind of "smart dial" feature similar to MS smartphones, where you can start dialing the first few numbers or letters of a contact and it will bring up a list of potential matches, or do you have to peck through the contacts app to dial? I love smart dial (or whatever its called) on the SMT5600 and would really like to see something similar. If not included, is there a 3rd party app that would do something similar?
I'm just wondering if any of you guy's know that if your in a good Sprint area(EVDO even better) you CAN get a 6700 with a SERO plan. Get this you get 500min/n&W/m2m/RedyLink/email/IM and all the EDVO(PowerVision) you can possibly eat for $30.00 month. Anyone can do this!
Cingular has a guide on their MediaNet pages to give you an idea of how much data different tasks use. Please note it is not exact by any means - there are too many variables. Here it is: https://www.cingular.com/media/media_net_faqs#faq7Originally Posted by GenPetahhhh
If you have a MediaNet or data plan that is limited and you go over, it can cost you big time. I suggest getting the unlimited plan and monitoring how much you use each month. If after 4-6 months you've never gone over 5MB, then drop back to a lower plan. If you use the new 8125 for much browsing, you can easily go over 5, 10, or 20MB in a month. The only way to find out how much you're using is look at your bill when it's too late.
When I've had a data plan, I didn't find the need to use it enough to justify the high cost, and I'm not going to stick my neck out on a limited plan and get a giant bill one month for going over. For now, I don't have a data plan but will get one again when I need it.
Just to give an idea, I have an SX66 that I use to replace a blackberry. I do email (activesync every 10 minutes from 6AM-10PM) and automatic hourly weather updates, as well as some web browsing and general stuff, and I use between 20-80MB per month. On my smartphone I just to an occasional manual activesync (maybe 1-3X per day), and some very like WAP browsing (maybe 2x per week) and have never exceeded 5MBOriginally Posted by asdrew
I use my QTek 9100 to fetch e-mail every 15 minutes for two accounts, update weather every hour, heavy web surfing every day, and an occasional tether (once a month or so) and I average between 150 and 200 mb per month on my grandfathered MediaWorks Unlimited for $19.99/month.
to the person who posted the pictures.. how fast did the screen switch when he slid the 8125 open, and then how fast did it go back when he closed it? I have seen the ppc-6700 and it is a little slow..
Sweet deal my friend. Out of curiousity, because you're also using the Mediaxx Unlimited for $19.99, are you experiencing the decreased speed version of Edge (as per previous discussion on the thread), or are you getting above 140kbps - as you should?Originally Posted by jlczl
yes wm5 does.Originally Posted by pgray007
My 9100 has this feature. I don't know if it would be different for the Cingular branded version. My guess would be that it will have the feature.Originally Posted by pgray007
