Well the only thing that concerns me with this group is that they ask for some detailed info....why in the world do they need your social security and drivers license number? That sends up flags for me.Originally Posted by tonyrojas2007

On my 2125 (8125 due via FedEx tomorrow), I can use both the web version of gmail and the pop version. Of course, the trick with the pop version is that gmail only lets you download the message once, so if you want it on your desktop, as well, you have a few extra hoops to jump through. I created a second gmail account just for my phone. All the mail that gets to my main gmail account gets auto forwarded to the phone gmail account. This works pretty well.Originally Posted by Russell1
By the way, gmail's spam filter is much better than the one we have on my company's mail server, so I automatically send all mail that hits my company account to gmail and download the gmail account to my desktop, rather the mail from my company account (and I own the company). Once every day or so, I access my company account via webmail and purge all the old messages and double check the gmail account to make sure nothing important got tagged as spam, which is rare but does happen.
And of course if you want to wait, it should be coming out to all channels around 2/20![]()
My local Cingular store had an 8125 demo unit (none in stock for sale). I played with it for a little while and I must say I was impressed. I had seen the 6700 at Sprint and Verizon (it was a few weeks ago), but I prefer the looks of the 8125. It seems slimmer and the sliding mechanism felt more solid. I put my MPx220 next to it and it was slightly larger, but I was surprise at how close they were (i.e. it's smaller than I thought). The speaker phone sounded OK (of course I've been using the horrible speaker on the MPx220, so perhaps in reality it's not that good).
I have large fingers and there were no issues using the QWERTY keyword OR the on screen dial pad. The screen looked nice too.
My premier site was sold out yesterday (could not even place an order) but has availability today. After playing with the 8125 I placed an order :-) I never sign a 2 year contract, but I did this time. With a $150 Early Termination Fee, I figure I'll break even given the $225 cost if I want to bail after a year.
I skipped the PDAConnect selection screen when ordering and checked the unlimited MediaNet option. Hopefully I won't have any issues. I've read the posts and talked to the Cingular reps and a lot of information is conflicting. I know it just works (I put my SIM into the demo 8125 and had no issues in IE), not sure if there is a speed difference or if Cingular will really be able to monitor and catch anything. I have unlimited MediaNet on my MPx220 and use a large number of MBs/month and I have never had any issues.
Last note, it looks like it only supports voice tags out of the box. A little disappointing, but at least there is a solution MS Voice Command.
Best of luck to all.

still not a big difference
Before I submitted the deal online, I printed the agreement and it still states the ETF is $150, not $175. Of course, it also states they can change these terms whenever they want, but then you have the option of getting out of the contract, I believe.Originally Posted by ASimpleFarmer
Interesting, I actually read and printed out the 2 year agreement before finalizing the order. In that agreement (Cingular Premier - mMODE TERMS AND CONDITIONS) it is says:
EARLY TERMINATION FEE
In FL, GA, SC, NC, KY, TN, MS, LA, AL, NY, and parts of IN and NJ, if I terminate this Agreement before expiration of my Service Commitment, I will pay Cingular an Early Termination Fee of $240 for each wireless telephone number associated with the service prorated over the term of my Service Commitment. In all other areas, if I terminate this Agreement before expiration of my Service Commitment, I will pay Cingular an Early Termination Fee of $150 for each wireless telephone number associated with the service.
I'll save the printed copy and if I cancel, I'll deal with it at that point.
Thanks for the info.

Just did a quick browse through the posts today, strange to hear people talk about actually using the phantom 8125. I look forward to joining in tomorrow. Anyways...
For all that have or will have this... you have to check out Orb Networks. That freakin site is an absolute gem. Without going into detail... you load software on your PC that will allow another PC or your 8125 to securely connect DIRECTLY to it and stream all your music and videos. It will also does TV if you have a approved TV tuner on your PC. I travel all week, every week, and have been using my 2125 to connnect to my PC accross the country all the time and it just flat out works. Plus... it's free with almost not ads on the site (like this is 1999).
Also, regarding the difference between MediaNet and PDA Connect... a while back there was some comments regarding this from a Cingular network engineer that knew what he was talking about unlike the people that are actually trained to talk to people. The bottom line is that biggest difference is that they allocate sufficient bandwith for PDA Connect to allow all the users on it maximize what EDGE is capable of. However with MeidaNet you will often find that during busy times your speed is significantly decreased due to the traffic. So at 4am they would likely be the same speed but at 4pm you will probably see a difference assuming your in some type of urban area. (to be clear... you aren't supposed to have an option so the just because it cost twice as much doesn't mean that is supposed to have twice the value. your talking about marketing to two fairly different sets of people and the business/pda users are like willing to fork over a little more)
Considering that I only get 10-15kb/sec with Edge here in Ft. Myers, Florida, I'm half tempted to try out the PDA data plan. They shouldn't call it Edge when you only get dial-up speeds.
thats good then. Cause I read on our internal calendar that all new users after a certain date in feb, I beleive the second sunday all have 175 etfs.Originally Posted by Razor1973

Does it have a carrying case? If so, is it a slip-case, belt clip, etc?
How about a cradle?
Will it come with a wall-charger, or a USB charger? (or both?)
