People who thought you could easily use this phone one handed were deluding themselves. I thought that would be obvious to anyone who saw a picture of the thing. Realistic expectations for the win.
I like it so far but there are a few annoyances. First, the speaker is crap on mine. It rattles when it plays a loud system sound or when I'm using the speakerphone at a loud volume. The vibrate function is fairly useless since the device barely vibrates at all. Having to drill down through several menues just to stop running programs is crazy. I don't think the screen is as sharp and clear as the 2125
With all that said, I have enjoyed it so far and right now I don't plan on returning it. I knew what I was getting when I bought it, such as the need for two handed use. The keyboard is the main reason I bought it and I am very satisfied with it. Wifi works well and it pops a window up on the screen whenever a new wap is deteced. As a phone, it gets great reception, but Cingular's coverage in my area is so good that any phone gets good reception .
I've already done a few registry tweaks, such as turning on cleartype when in landscape mode and other things. I see a huge need for the Magic Button program so that I can have quicker access to certain programs (such as closing running programs faster). I plan on trying that out tonight.
My biggest gripe is the speaker. I may end up getting a replacement unit unless others tell me that theirs is the same way. Does your speaker rattle at high volumes (like it can't handle the volume)?
I also need a different case. I've already had too many accidental key presses when trying to take the phone out of the case.
I have one major concern though. My last HTC pda/phone was the Siemens SX66/HTC Blue Angel. The quality of bluetooth audio was HORRIBLE, no matter what bluetooth headset I used (currently have an HS810). Most newsgroup postings agreed that it was a hardware defect with the Blue Angel.
So question is - has anyone used a bluetooth headset with the 8125? Is there alot of static? How do you sound to people on the other end of the call?

Well I have been using it since yesterday and i am impressed. The volume is really good and I have trained my phone so I can voice dial using my BT headset. I have the Moto 850. I was really disapointed with my treo and BT but the 8125 delivers for me on the BT functions. I can answer and hang up as well as voice dial with out touching the phone. Gets a thumbs up for me.
Help! Why when I try to buy it on Premier website. The phone costs 349.99, but "Total today cost" is 746.98???
It's like 349.99 for the phone + 18.00 for service fee. Then it says subtotal of 367.99. But then the "Today one time charges*" is 746.98 (which is the cost of the phone 349.99 + service fee 18 + SUBTOTAL (AGAIN??) 367.99 = 746.98. Did you guys have the same problem?? or not?? Should I order it? I'm afraid I'll be charged 746.98$ :S and that sure won't be cool. Please help me out.

That is great news. It'd be interesting to know if they've released it to the stores, and have sent some shipments to them. Previosuly it was said that it was going to be released at the same time. Anyone know? I'll stop by the cingular store nearby later to check if they know anything. I know that none of the stores around my area had one up for demo and only one had even inkling of knowledge of it. so. we'll see.
I've called several stores in the Detroit, MI area and no one has them in stock, nor did they know if/when they would get them.
If anyone comes across them in the Detroit area - let me know.
I'm having a small problem with Agile Messenger. It connects fine when using GPRS, but won't connect when I'm using WiFi. I'm able to browse the web when on Wifi, so I know it's working.
I received my phone yesterday and went through the setup procedures as noted by Bullpup. I agree that fit and finish on this was better than I expected. I used it during the day and was quite pleased with the size, speed, reception, speaker sound and functionality of the device. Installed agenda fusion 7.8 (highly recommended) by developer one and codewallet pro 5. The vendor had an updated version designed for mobile 5. Installed a variety of other applications including E-sword which was not updated for mobile 5 and is fairly large without any problems.
Now I'm ready to start tweaking the unit for speed, Wireless G etc. etc.! I appreciate the tips and tricks you all have posted and will be scanning the hofo site for more.

I'm using the 2125 and I fit it in a smt5600 krussel case and it fits tight but fine. I use it on my belt clip and like a case to cover the whole 8125 phone for protection plus with a belt clip anything out there ???

Right on . I ordered mine earlier this morning, and got the same price for merely extending my remaining contract for a second year (of course, I also have the $19.99 media works on my existing phone so that "counted" as the data plan for the rebate). It doesn't get any better.

You must copy and paste the link in IE. Clearly you are using another type of Browser. I was using a shell of IE (AvantBrowser) and it still didn't work.
Just got off the phone with Cingular twice! They said they're "phone upgrade system was down" but they looked through the computer anyways out of curiosity and didn't see the 8125 there. Is it possible to order through cingular.com without a new plan?
