someone try using the vzaccess manager.

Just choose it as your device. It works with my e815 on the old firmware.

Perhaps I should try with MPT.
I've only used the windows dial-up, from My Bluetooth Places, and #777 fails with an invalid user/passwd no matter what I try. I've tried QNC/QNC and qnc/qnc of course.

Do a speed test for us. Try this simple one: http://us.mcafee.com/root/speedometer/default.asp

I get invalid username/password when I create a qnc network connection from MPT also. No matter if I launch it from MPT or from Network Connections.
I also created multiple new connections in MPT, trying different settings.

BTW, this is using the new firmware. Obviously, this all works with the original E815 firmware.

Yeah, I changed my Data Connection to QNC only.

BTW, I know you are using the new firmware - but I was just clarifying for others reading the thread.

The username/password is probably hardcoded in the nvm_data file like it is in the other EVDO phones now (the Razr and the LG's) ... or something like that.

BTW, tethering an EVDO capable phone is strictly against Verizon's TOS. I assume that is why they have further disabled this feature on the EVDO phones.

People are using EVDO phones and forcing them to 1x and then using DUN.

Even though no one seems to have been charged for this, I sure wouldn't do it.
Look at what they are doing to the Razr and E815 to disable this.

And if you have an E815, it will be hard to argue with them when the only way you could get DUN enabled in the first place was doing a ##DIALUP

It is against the TOS to tether an EVDO capable phone - they don't say that it is ok on an EVDO capable phone that is forced to 1x mode.

And they don't even officially support minutes of usage tethering anymore on any phone. But they used to, so I feel safe doing that. Many of us switched to Verzion specifically for this feature.

I was personally told by vzw customer service that because I bought the mobile office kit for my V120c, I was grandfathered into using the QNC network at no charge (i.e. #777 username qnc password qnc)

I WILL be calling them up to discuss this.
