Yes, I know they work, but it overwrites them and breaks them.
Ok, to clear this up, it doesnt break anything. The new flash just overwrites previously modified seems and puts them back to their original states, but all the seems are still functional so far. All the seems can still be applied the same way as normal, but will have to be applied again. And all the regular features (excluding the DUN with EVDO) work fine, along with some new upgraded features that cucamelsmd15 already listed.
I am getting ready to flash my phone now that somebody figured out how to get dun to work...I have a quick question...
I have pst 7.1.1, which I read you need the newest one to flash it with, is there anyway to upgrade that in the program itself to the newest pst 7.2.3? Or do I have to find and download the newest one?
And on another off topic question if anyone knows, is inetron.com down forever or just temporarily or did they move? That was good site.

Thanks,
Get 7.2.3, as 7.1.1 cant seem to suspend the phone.

Flashed the phone last night. Once I got the flash program to find the phone everything went like clockwork. So far it has not reset during a text. The vibrate is much stronger. Also have iTAP in mobile web. Not exactly the same as when sending a text but its better then triple tap. As far as the no DUN, I found this link for 1X DUN for Razrs. Figured that it might work and so I tried. http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...8&page=1&pp=15
If you can read this it means it worked.
It is 1X but it works.
Thanks to RWB for figuring this out on the Razr.
##DIALUP didnt do anything.
Also havent tried through MPT or BT from my ipaq.
Best of both worlds. New firmware and DUN
I was under the impression that using "yournumber@vzw3g.com" was considered tethering your phone, whether or not it was disabled in test mode, and then causing you to be charged per KB.
Basically, what is the difference between using qnc/qnc as opposed to yournumber@vzw3g.com/vzw.
Just completed flashing and redoing my seem edits, used PST 7.2.3 and had no trouble, took less than 10 minutes.
The startup sound glitch when transflash is present is gone. My seem edits for removing the internal banners stayed, I did not have to re edit them; did have to re-edit the external banner though.
MPT works faster too, reading/writing files via USB.
Never did use DUN, but I understand the V3C fix works on the new 815 firmware.
Vibrate is definately better, the off balance weight spins much faster.
Recommend this update to all E815 users.
These are the seems I change :
Seem Record Length Offset Bit Value Function
2742 0001 007a 6A 0 1 BlueTooth OBEX Profile & Multimedia support in MPT
2742 0001 007a 75 5 1 Enable Transflash Copy/Move
2742 0001 007a 65 5 1 Enable BlueTooth Copy/Move (non functional)
2771 0001 0020 Multi Text Text External Banner
296a 0005 0020 Multi Text Text Internal Banner
296a 0006 0020 Multi Text Text Internal Banner
2827 0001 0022 0008 0, 2, 3, 6 1 Identify as E815M in MPT
EDIT : Also did not need to change my forced 1X mode.
Without getting into a philosophical discusssion about how the phone should work, or arguing about michaelf's factual errors (e.g.: Primary contact number can be changed from the Menu, many other phones allow manual hyphen entry), can anyone tell me whether any of the items I asked about have been changed in the new software?

I have two entries in my phone book (not the real numbers):
1) John: 212-555-1212
2) Forward to John: *71-212-555-1212
If I call John, and then look at the list of dialed numbers, it displays as "Forward to John".
Can someone check whether the new firmware fixes this.
How about the following:
1) If you display only the "Primary" contact number in the Contacts list, and then call one of the other numbers by pressing the left or right arrow, it changes the Primary setting to that number.
2) There does not seem to be any way to manually enter hyphens when entering a phone number. Setting hyphenation "On' or "Auto" do the same thing. (e.g.: I cannot really enter *71-212-555-1212, as shown above.)
3) The voice dialing does not recognize the * digit.
Regaurding the contact entries, that is how the phone was meant to function. The phone displays "Forward to John" when you call because it ignores any prefixes and displays the first contact with that number in alphabetical order, so if you were to put "Z Forward to John", then when you place a call to John, it will display John because it comes before "Z Forward to John". (a positive use for this is that when u place a call to 555-1212 by manually entering the number and you have a contact that is 111-555-1212 (with the area code), the phone will display the contact name)
1) Once again, I believe this is a purposeful function because there is no other way to specify a "primary" number. I agree with you that it should not be this way, but I do believe it was the way Moto intended it to be and is not a "problem"
2) Also not a "problem." No phone I've ever seen has been able to manually insert hyphens. There's not much of an actual purpose for it easier other than making it easier for your eye to see it, it does not make a difference in dialing.
3) I don't believe this was on Moto's "to fix" list, but I agree with you that this feature should be implemented.
Ok, here's my question, does DUN over USB work then? (I still can't get it to work)
I followed the guide
Ooo here's a nasty bug... When I connect using DUN over USB on the new firmware, it doesn't show the packet data icon while I'm connected like it did on the old firmware... (though it does show that if I'm on wireless web)
I haven't tried DUN yet and may not go to the trouble as I have little need for it.
I wouldn't call that a "nasty bug" per se, after all, you're certainly aware of when you're tethered or not. It seems that they are doing everything possible to discourage this practice. I find it interesting that they don't see it as a potentiel revenue stream instead of a threat. This is certainly costing them some money to make these changes so they must have compelling reasons for it.
Far be it from VZW to miss an opportunity to charge for a service.
