i have my phone seem edited and stuff, and i hav all the verizon banners removed and what not and bluetooth and all that stuff enabled. now, if i bring this phone over to the guys at verizon are they going to notice this or what do i do? i want them to flash it but i want to make sure they dont pick up on the fact that my phone has been moded or soemthing? do they even pay attention to that kind of thing or what?

also, what about my contacts? do they backup the contacts before they flash with new firmware or how does that work?

and lastly, does someone want to start a list of the CONFIRMED fixes/edits that have been made with this new firmware? like a sticky or soemthing at the top of the forums..?

The banners they probably will notice. Your warranty will be void (that is if you still have one). They won't notice most of the menu additions or bluetooth at all. I'd switch the banners back though for sure... or you can just flash it yourself and save some time. They do back up your phonebook and the pics on the phone will remain on there without a need for backup. However, they give no guarantee and if they hose your phone, you'll get a refurb and all our info will be gone.

It's sad too because when they "hose" your phone, they really didn't. Most techs don't even know how to use the boot loader to attempt a reflash.

Whether they notice or not is dependant on the person/tech. I've never had one notice, but that means absolutely nothing. But I've never changed the banners, and they're not going to notice a seem edit unless they know as much as us and know what to look for. I've returned V710's and E815's with seem edits, missing stock photo's, DUN enabled, custom pic servers, and custom websessions - but I do NOT advise this!
There is only one way to ensure that they don't notice - put everything back to original.

Your phonebook will remain intact on a successful flash. But if the flash is unsuccessful you could lose your phonebook, and perhaps the whole phone (like if they fry it). So, back up ALL YOUR DATA. This includes contacts, pics, videos, and audio. Do not rely on them to save your data correctly - look out for number 1 and save your data on your pc.

I'd do like effortless said, and simply flash your E815 to original before taking it in - that's the quickest/easiest way. Or, if flashing is what you are afraid of (don't blame you), then at least put the vzw banners back.

Just a silly question, but those that have flashed and are not able to get DUN working again, you re-entered the DUN enable code, correct?

Did they disable the ## codes, or just the ##DIALUP one?
    Does ##BROWSER still work?

I suppose I could go to Verizon and have them flash it for me (I like to have them take the risks), but I hate waiting!

How about the bug with Pics being stored in the root of the TF card instead of the motorola/shared/pictures directory?
With Storage Device set to TF card, take a pic and store it.
Then connect your E815 to your pc via OBEX or USB and look on the TF card for the pic. Is it in the root or the motorola/shared/pictures directory?
... it is just that filling up the root of the TF card with pics causes the camera to become progressively slower when storing and whatnot (as more pics are added to the TF root).
Did some more testing for you guys: Sorry Humpa, looks like this is still a problem.

Ry Ry, this appears to have been fixed. Deleted all my Quick Texts and ObeyMoto works flawlessly.

Concerning speakerphone echo, two people that heard it in the past when I called, today said they didn't hear it. Will do more testing, but hopefully it's been fixed too.

Let me know what other tests I can do for you all. Later.

Does it cost anything to go to the store and get the phone flashed?

Also, will I lose all my contacts and all the games I've downloaded from GIN?

No to your first question. As for losing your contacts, that should only happen if you do a master reset (not sure if store flashing automatically does that or not). If you flash it yourself just be sure not to select the option to Master Clear/Reset after the flash. Your GIN downloads should be safe regardless.

P.S. If your paranoid, just back up your contacts with MPT before hand as a precaution.

Nice guide, thanks for posting. I do have a question which I don't know whether or not you can answer. My phone never had the Verizon banner on it. I'm just wondering if I do flash it, if I will then get stuck with the Verizon banner. Thanks.

If you changed your 'Outside with flip open' banner, this gets reset back to the original (Verizon Wireless). The Inside banners don't seem to be affected (at least for me).

But no worries, just apply or reapply your custom banners using the instructions in the sticky posted at the top of the forum.

I know I didn't quite answer your question, but if you never had a Verizon banner to begin with and the flash changes that, you'll know what to do.

please please please fix bluetooth echo

Oh man I hope this fixes the bluetooth headset echo problem. That's the only problem I've ever really had, but it makes the phone basically useless for most of my needs.

If ANYone can test this it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Anyone else on here know if any of the stores in San Diego have the new version yet? I called a few places and no one knew what I was talking about. (Shocking, I know.) If I could find one that had it I would get it done ASAP.

    So is it worth it?

Hi, I have read all of the posts above and am still thinking about flashing the phone or not. It doesnt look like there is anything not to be happy about in the new flash... except for DUN.

But in all, for whoever has actually flashed their phones... Is it worth it, or should I wait. It's not a matter of being concerned about "hose" ing my phone, I dont need to go to the verizon store, I just want to know if there are any notable changes that are definatly worth flashing for.

Anyway, just state your opinions, that would help alot!

    Thanks in advance.
