My old VZW e815 broke (screen is dead, all else is fine anyone need it?) and I picked up a very nice used one off the bay. The old guy had the 8720_01.17.03 FW and I had it all hacked up for BT, DUN, tethering, banner, etc.

The new one had the 03 FW but had a bunch of issues with lock ups so I had a store update it to the latest. I now have 8720_1_26.00 and can't find any reference to that anywhere? Is that the same as 01.1E.0R (8720_01.1E.00)?

Be advised that the last time the two E815/E816 gurus posted (KBman & Humpa), it was over a year ago. Their phone lists show many other phones now, so interest in the E815/E816 has clearly waned. It was a great phone... still is in many respects, but technology improvements are pushing it into the obsolescence zone.

No. 1_26.00 is not the same.

there are some differences.. exactly what.. well, I never took the time to find out.

I am running 1.1E.00 on my E815 and E816... and they are stable, so I never upgraded or tried the 1.26.00

My E815 has the .03 firmware. What is the best and easiest software I can use to flash it to the .00 firmware?

A good program is MultiFlashFlex, bundled with Motorola PST 7.2.5 (I've, and several others have had problems with 7.2.6, so don't use it). Once you download, install, and crack PST, you will find MFF this way: My computer > your hard drive > Programs > Motorola > PST > MultiFlashFlex.

Finding PST is your responsibility. Do not ask for links, search the net. Asking or posting links to warez programs will get you banned.

    two ways..

    http://mark.cdmaforums.com/HowToFlash.htm (using PST's MultiFlashFlex)
    http://mark.cdmaforums.com/HowToFlash-RSDL.htm (Using RSDLite)

Following those guides.. EACH are easy.

The hard part is finding and downloading PST/MFF and RSDLite as they are warez.. so you have to search (we can't post links cause its against the rules here)

If all you want to do is flash... RSDLite might be considered a little easier, as PST requires you install, then apply the patch/crack to it first.

I had flashed my e815 to bell back when it was my main phone but now that my Q9m is my main phone I don't see much reason to keep the bell firmware when I could switch it back to a firmware that supports evdo tethering on vzn like it did with the stock firmware.

My question is this can I go straight from my bell firmware to the vzw 8720_01.17.03 firmware on http://ryfiles.com/flash/

I ask because ry's site doesn't mention if it's a monster or not but then again it doesn't say that the amp'd e816 fw is a monster and I definetly used that to from vzw stock to bell

I'm sure Ry Ry will have it available at http://ryfiles.com/flash when he gets his site back online tomorrow.

I do not know what features or bugs have been addressed or changed, so don't ask me.

No need to email you. The firmware is on the bottom section of this page:

For finding the software to flash it, I'd recommend using your favorite internet search engine. Links for that are not allowed on HoFo.

I don't think it meets minimum e911 guidelines anymore. You may have trouble activating it.
