Correct. BT is going to be a throttle against an EVDO connection. Ideal throughput will be with a USB 2.0 connection.

Thank you kindly. I was going nuts for 721 kbps is much higher than the connection rate I see of 115 kbps and actual download of 90 - 105 kbps.

USB sees actual download of 700-900 kbps.

    Couple More Questions

Hi - I am new to 6700 on Verizon. After following directions in this thread, I have WModem working, and my laptop is tethered via USB at 230 K (I have 1 bar in EV-DO serviced area). My laptop does not have BT, so I can only tether via USB.

    Two questions:

When undocked, I am syncing the 6700 over air to Exchange server - so I am assuming that a data call is always in progress. So when I go to launch WModem, so that I can then dock and tether to my laptop, I get dialog box saying "End current data call first". I have tried many things, but cannot seem to break the data call. All I can do is soft reset, and then WModem will launch and work. I also tried holding the "End Call" button, but this doesn't seem to do it either.

Also, although I can get Modem connection from PC, I do get a pop-up error on the 6700, saying somthing like "Error Code:1010 - Data service is not available when device is in tethered and Bluetooth Dial Up Networking mode". Anyone know what this means?

    Thanks!

I enabled the BT DUN. I disovered the Bluetooth Dialup Modem on my phone from my iPAQ. I am able to connect to the phone and I dial the "#777" but I'm not getting connected. I believe it's a problem with my username / password.

I used myphonenumber@vzw3qw.com as my username and vzw as the password but it's not connecting.. Any ideas?

    Dial-up Networking Popup

I enabled BT DUN on the VX6700. My laptop discovered the service correctly. I then went to the Properties of "My Network Places" and selected "Create a new connection". I selected "Connect using a dial-up modem". I selected the "Modem-Standard Modem over Bluetooth link". Entered Username, password, etc.

The laptop connects successfully to the Internet through the BT. However, every time I go to a new website (or if a website contains adds / content from another site), a "Dial-up" popup box flashes and asks me to "connect". I set it to connect automatically and now it just constantly flashes as I surf the Internet.

    Any ideas?

I have tried the DUN settings with my couple day old XV6700 from verizon. I can't pull the Wmodem file out of the ppc, it says locked, and it won't delete it when it's moved.. ?

I also tried the ##33 number send deal, but is this only applicable in an EVDO area? It calls Verizon, and says welcome to verizon wireless, and then another recording says you've reached a number that isn't correct? No pop up windows or anything like that?

I just want to get the DUN working, ideally over bluetooth, but could live with usb...

Any suggestions, or help, I would greatly appreciate it. Love the phone other than these 2 issues.

If you are looking for a bluetooth adapter that works well with the xv6700, I just bought this one:

    http://www.clubit.com/product_detail...temno=A5318005

Comes to 5 dollars after shipping and rebate and works with the widcomm drivers with a little patching

if you're dialing ##3328873 and it connects then you're doing something wrong.. when you dial that number and hit send it's supposed to access a hidden menu .. not dial out like a phone number..

Try doing ##778, that worked for me when the ##3328873 wasn't working. I am pretty sure you will be able to access all you need to using that.

K, tried ##778 and I get the choice to View, Edit or Cancel. Choosing view or edit, I put in the 000000 and get an EPST screen with a bunch of listed items. None of which are editable... Just things like Nam Name, SCM ESN HEX, ESN Dec, MSID, LIfe Counter, Life Timer, Life Data RX, Life Data TX, Soft version, Firm version, Hardware version, PRI version, PRI Checksum, Refub status, Refurb date, Manf Date, Orig Activation date, Warranty date code..

Any other ideas as to how to get into this menu? I am in a non-EVDO area, not slated until 2007 for it..

As for DUN in general, I have also noticed that folks find the MuteEX flag in the HKLM registry under services, wireless mgr, but I do not have that registry entry?...

When you did the ##778 did you check the drop down menu in the upper left corner? I got access to the EVDO, to change it to CDMA only using that method. The menu should be right under where the start button is, it will say Display and have a triangle pointing down.
