if I missed anything, or anything is unclear, pm me.

    1. Wmodem
This is a program on Windows Mobile 5.0 that will allow you to use the 6700 as a modem. You can connect via USB, Bluetooth or Infrared, of course speeds will be greatly affected by the last two options.

To find on Pocket PC, Start-->Programs-->File Explorer-->Windows
At the bottom right of screen there is the Menu tab, click and select "Show All Files"
The bottom of the page will be the link for the wmodem program. I copied and pasted it to my Programs folder on pocket PC for easy access.

    2. You will need a driver so that Windows will recognize your device as a modem. This driver is cdma1x_usbmdm.inf The corresponding program is CDMA_USBmodem_dialer. This program is what you will launch at the same time you run Wmodem on the Pocket PC. They work together to dial out.
I was able to find this software at http://www.intrasection.com/pjmorr/2005/02/page/2/

The driver and program link are at the bottom of the page.

Install the driver and the program to your Program Folder on your laptop/pc.
I didn't use the Windows Network Wizard to set up the connections, as the CDMA Dialer program seemed to set it up on it's own.

    3. It is important to start the Wmodem program on the 6700 before connecting it to the laptop with the USB. When you do plug it in, Windows will ask for a driver. I entered in the folder the driver was in so the laptop recognized the device; and run the CDMA_USBmodem_dialer program.

    4. Your user name is yourwirelessnumber@vzw3g.com. Your password is vzw. Your dial out number is #777.

There are many bits and pieces to this formula out on the net, some user's threads on Howardforums got me started in the right direction.
Thanks again. I hard resetted my 6700 and did as you instructed. Worked like a charm. I am currently using an old HP Laptop with USB 1.1 -- it connects to the phone at ~250kbps. I have ordered a high speed USB PCbus card to speed things up, tho. Hopefully, I can reach 750 kbps or so as that's what I am paying for. It sure is fun to go into the back yard and surf at fairly good speeds.
I'll have a 1/2 decaf with an almond mocha biscotti, please!

    Hi friends,
I did get my BT DUN working. However, when I start WModem at XV6700, my windows XP does not recognize my USB device (XV6700), so no new hardware is found. Only undown USB device is shown in the device manager. I tried to update the drive and use the CDMA USB modem.inf, the computer shows no device information is found. Could any expert show me how to fix this problem.
    Thanks

Does it no matter what USB port I use. Any ideas?

ActiveSync works fine, and Ive had BT DUN working before, but now it seems as if when I discover devices in range it doesent see the phone....

yea i have the same problem, is there a fix for this? this problem makes it so i have like "x" number of drivers in my connetcions lists i.e. CDMA USB, CDMA USB#1, .....#2,....#3 etc..

##3328873 doesn't seem to work anymore, with the new Roms.

When I dial it, the phone tries to make a call.

    Any help appreciated.

Thumbs down Cute Device, will not pay extra $15 for tethering

I have used all the instructions to get the tethered connection to work with the XV6700.

I live in the SF Bay area and have never gotten better than 222 down 78 up

I already have a broadband connection at home and occasionally may want to browse the web while I am on the road. My laptop has wifi and I am rarely out of range of a hotspot.

I am wondering if paying the extra $15 removes a cap that limits the connection to 200Kbps

I am still in the 15 day grace period for this device and I just cannot justify the extra expense of $44/month without having laptop tethering included at a usable speed.

I may re-consider a similar device in the future when pricing is more reasonable with VZW.

ps: Doing a hard-reset last week enabled BT and un-hid the WModem Application

I installed the new ROMs as well. Then I tried the DUN mentioned here. I had to disable the BT in order to get to work. Hope this helps.

so if i use this at night time or weekend, then its cool? everything wil work like a charm and I do not have to pay for it??

This works great - my trial run I'm doing the same typing this via BT DUN. FYI - I'm getting 115k speeds. Sweet!

Thanks for all the info on the 6700, I love this PDA/Phone and all the insight is great. PS: I did do the ROM update.
