When i tried dialing the ##3328873 and then send, my phone is dialing and i hear "Your call cannot be completed as dialed" Am i doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
I've been playing with my new favorite toy (xv6700) and I love it so far! I followed the instructions word-for-word that I found here and was able to connect my laptop with a dial-up connection over bluetooth - yay! Only later did I find out that the new ROM provides BT DUN out of the box and I'm wondering what the deal was with those settings I tweaked...
Now, four questions:
1) When I connect using the phonenumber@vzw3g.com, vzw, #777 settings, am I using voice minutes on my plan, or MB out of my (paid-for) PDA data plan, or neither?
2) This one depends on the answer to #1, but might I be able to connect using a dial-up account of my own (my cable provider gives dial-up access to its customers, and I have a direct dial-up VPN from my work) rather than the Verizon settings without using either my voice minutes or MB from my data plan?
3) My PC was only showing up as being connected at 115kbps, which looks like 1xRTT speeds, not EVDO (would have expected ~500kbps for EVDO). Am I missing something in my setup that would enable EVDO speeds?
4) The bummer part was that after a few minutes of being connected, the connection seemed to have been dropped (my browser kept returning "page not found" even though the Connection Status still said it was Connected), and the backlight was off on my phone but I could still see the Today screen, and it was non-responsive. I had to do a soft reset to get it to wake up. Is that normal?
I followed the instruction to install wmodem.exe and installed the driver and got the XV6700 working as a modem in 10 minutes. Great! BUT.... I am not sure what my husband did , it is not working now. I went into Device Manager and the modem is gone. I plugged the xv6700 in again and windows did not recognize anything plugged in. I tried "scan for hardware changes" from device manager but the minute I did that it would go "not responding". I have rebooted the XP computer and also tried a different USB port but still the same thing. What can I do? Thanks, all.
Hi all. I've got my Verizon XV6700 to connect twice and got good speeds but can't get it to connect again. Not sure how I did get it to connect. When I connect my USB cable and run WModem I get the yellow connection icon but when I click start I get an error that I must end the data call first. If I disable the data then I don't get a yellow connection light. I've spent a few hours trying this (mostly in airport bars). Any input would be appreciated. email is ron.rem@gmail.com. Thanks!

I get the same thing, usually i reboot my PocketPC, run the wireless modem and hit start and then plug in the USB cable and then dial on the laptop and it connects. But if anyone figures a way around this, let me know. Thanks.
The other question I've got is about the speed. When I connect via USB I get 230 kb/s, which is ok, but isn't EVDO supposed to be faster than that? I also noticed that when I'm connected the little icon at the top of the screen says "1X" not "EV" like it does when I'm using the data connection for the device itself, not with a laptop via DUN. Is this an indication that I'm only using 1XRTT speeds and not EVDO? Is there a driver or application that will let me use DUN at EVDO speeds?
I am sure someone else has figured this out long before me, but here are the steps I used to get my 6700 to work as a modem, no major 'hacks' required.
if I missed anything, or anything is unclear, pm me.
1. Wmodem
This is a program on Windows Mobile 5.0 that will allow you to use the 6700 as a modem. You can connect via USB, Bluetooth or Infrared, of course speeds will be greatly affected by the last two options.
To find on Pocket PC, Start-->Programs-->File Explorer-->Windows
At the bottom right of screen there is the Menu tab, click and select "Show All Files"
The bottom of the page will be the link for the wmodem program. I copied and pasted it to my Programs folder on pocket PC for easy access.
2. You will need a driver so that Windows will recognize your device as a modem. This driver is cdma1x_usbmdm.inf The corresponding program is CDMA_USBmodem_dialer. This program is what you will launch at the same time you run Wmodem on the Pocket PC. They work together to dial out.
I was able to find this software at http://www.intrasection.com/pjmorr/2005/02/page/2/
The driver and program link are at the bottom of the page.
Install the driver and the program to your Program Folder on your laptop/pc.
I didn't use the Windows Network Wizard to set up the connections, as the CDMA Dialer program seemed to set it up on it's own.
3. It is important to start the Wmodem program on the 6700 before connecting it to the laptop with the USB. When you do plug it in, Windows will ask for a driver. I entered in the folder the driver was in so the laptop recognized the device; and run the CDMA_USBmodem_dialer program.
There are many bits and pieces to this formula out on the net, some user's threads on Howardforums got me started in the right direction.
Up & running quickly following all the instructions here in the forum. About a month later. my XP based laptop stopped recognizing the USB CDMA modem & states that the driver is NG for the device. I may have aided this condition by using *228 to update roaming & foolishly the vx6700 software.
Short of a hard reset, any thoughts on this condition?
Thanks to the guys pioneering this thread, simply awesome.
I jsut wanted to chime in and say: I got my box stock xv6700 to work with just some tinkering.
As said previously:
enable btmodem etc etc.
Pair the devices, I paired mine with winmodem because it gave me the option to use the phone as a way to connect to the internet.
Then, I just set the modem on one of the connection to the au cdmaOne Bluetooth Adapter.
I did get a weird message about a crossed connection. Turns out I had one of the modems set to a null modem (Made sense at the time, since its not a real modem but a phone) Chanding it to the Au bluetooth fixed it.
Side note: I made the modem Icon appear in the upper right. It allows you to see time, information rx or tx. I'm posting this from my mac right now =)
Thank you thank you thank you.
WORKS AWESOME.

P.S. DO NOT DO THIS UNLESS YOU ARE RICH OR SIGNED UP FOR THE UNLIMITED DATA PLAN. I talked to a vzw person today who told me it would cost .015 CENTS per Kb. Then I looked to see if I could maybe just get a plan and it would be even cheaper. Then I notice that the plans make no sense, it'd be cheaper to pay as you go. Turns out, even though I calculated this on the phone with him and he listened, and replied YES when I asked if it would cost 1.50 per megabyte... the service really costs 15 DOLLARS per megabyte. Thusly, .015 dollars per KB. Very Freaking different. 15 cents versus 1/15 of a cent.
Has anyone done this after deleting the VZW stuff through the hard reset trick, as in I can't use ##comands. It was mentioned earlier but shrugged off as not needing to delete the VZW stuff... I don't feel like ahrd resetting again so... Any solution? TIA
