Thought this would make a good thread for everyone with the XV6700 and decided to post it to one thread. Thanks "carteriii" for pointing out some of this info to me.

Will they know we are tethering if we don't pay the tethering fee?
Standard disclaimers apply, I've successfully tested this here between a day old 6700 and a Toshiba Qosmio G25 laptop. Laptop detects the phone as a standard 33.6 baud modem but handshakes at 112k. I haven't tested actual througput speeds but have verified it connects. I'm on a 1xRTT at home so if someone could test on EVDO I'd appreciate.
1. Go to the PHONE application
2. Dial ##3328873 Press Send
3. enter code 000000
4. Select BT DUN
5. Click Edit
6. Choose enable
7. Push Save / OK
8. Push Ok
9. Follow the prompt to restart your device
I'm delving into some other things as well, here's a dump of the Verizon xv6700 Extended ROM for those of you that are like me and may want to chance turning your new toy into a expensive paperweight :-)
I'll add to this as I find new things.. I've actually figured out how to install a complete BT Stack on the device and get printer and audio streaming also, but it's causing MS Voice Command to crash on reset and button actuation. That's the next item on attack list tho..
The BT fix is for the native stack and will work with nothing more than the instructions, so no fancy hacks.

Some Additional Dial strings:
##33284 Field Diagnostics

##374 Update ERI
##775 Update PRL
##7764726 NAM and ESN Edit
Still working..

In dealing with the wModem pieces, has anyone played yet with /hklm/software/oem/wmodem/ keys? Rather than all the copies/attributes that I see in some of these threads it looks like they're using the keys to disable the app and disable the serial interface. No point in chasing something that's already been tried and I've missed the thread. (a distinct possibility) Both DUN and serial are set to 0 value by default.

Edit: Ok, little deeper. Initiating EPST via the dial codes above and enabling wmodem in the same screens you enable bluetooth toggles the HideSerial and Multi-Nai values to 0x1 (1) under /hklm/software/oem/wmodem/ wModemDUN stays disabled. Enabling it via registry does not initiate hardware connection across the USB link .. yet.

Ok, looks like all the convolutions/copying/setting attributes aren't truly necessary, although they are functional at the moment.
Using EPST as in setting up Bluetooth and enabling wModem toggles two of the three necessary registry keys. The third, under /hklm/software/oem/wmodem/ is wModemDUN and you can set that to 1
Soft Reset the device
Using Total Commander, in the /windows directory you will have three files. wmodem.exe, wmodem.htm which is the help file for wmodem, and wmodem.lnk, which is a shortcut file to wmodem. You can copy the shortcut file to /windows/start menu/programs and you'll have a link in your Programs screen.
Launching that link you'll be offered three ways to connect. USB, Bluetooth, or irda. Selecting USB while connected (first) stops Activesync, initiates the phone, and a USB device will become active via PnP. This is where I'm stuck. None of the inf files in any of the published hacks properly detect the device. So if any of the Sprint guys have their CD handy, it may be on there with the dialer program that's supposed to be on that CD. Otherwise we're close to having this work as intended by HTC from what I see. Just because the file is hidden/system doesn't mean it can't be executed, so the attribute switches aren't truly needed as you can still execute a file as long as it's called directly..

hrm, you just need the CDMA modem drivers....I've been using the ones from the 6600 and they work fine.....
This works great. Typing this on my laptop and the VX6700 is on the counter..
this is what I did
1. Go to the PHONE application
2. typed in ##3328873
3. then hit send
4. screen pops up with a Please Enter Unlock Code and a white box
5. enter code 000000
6. new window pops up Named "ESPT"
7. There are two options that read diabled Enable WModem and BT DUN
8. Highlight the the first item then click edit on the bottom
9 Choose enable
10 Hlight the the second item BT DUN then click edit on the bottom
11. Choose enable
7. Push Save / OK
8. Push Ok
9. follow the prompt to restart your device
after your VX7600 restarts launch "My Bluetooth Places" on your laptop
then turn on blue tooth on your vx6700 by clicking Start / Settings / Connetions / Bluetooth/ check off Turn on Blue tooth and make my device discoverable
then click discover service in the my bluetooth place on your laptop pair the devices together.when done. The laptop will say found new device Dial Up Netwoking on BT Device.
drivers are there in Win XP I did not load any drivers to do this
Click connect
put in phonenumber@vzw3g.com for user name
then vzw for the password
and #777 in the dial box.
then clcik for all users.
then click remember setting and connect.
this is on my Win XP SP2 Laptop
did not do anything else except what is lised above to connect,,
once connected I did go in and do this on the VX6700
under /hklm/software/oem/wmodem/ wModemDUN I set that from 0 to 1
did not restart the unit or laptop. Jumped on here and started typing these instructions.
thanks to the above posters for show us the way![]()
Thanks
DP
you can get the CDMA modem drivers from many places.......just search for 6600 wmodem on google and I think that will do the trick.....thats what I've done and I've used the phone of USB plenty of times already.
for all the non-hacker users, just go to pdaphonehome.com under the xv6700/ppc6700 forum to get a cab file that will do all this and more for you!![]()

Thanks TimGSU. I already had it and didn't realize it. Long night spent playing and having 35 13 year old girls in the house for my daughters birthday party will tend to distract a person :-)Originally Posted by timGSU
Cab file or no cab, this doesn't look as complicated as it's been made out to be. I'm just looking to restore the phione to it's "proper" intended functionality without a lot of convolutions. Proper use should just be:
Installation:
Follow dialer instructions above to enable BT and wModem.
Unzip the contents of the download from this page into a folder on your computer Dialer
Turn on 6700
Start 6700 and run 'WModem', (directions for creating program link in my post above) select USB, press 'start'
Plug in cable to 6700 and USB end to laptop (or sit the 6700 in its cradle and plug the USB end to laptop)
When Windows asks for a driver, point it at the directory where CDMA1X_USBMDM.INF is located
Running:
Turn on 6700
Run 'WModem', select USB, press 'start'
Plug in cable to 6700 and USB end to laptop (or sit the 6700 in its cradle and plug the USB end to laptop)
On laptop run 'CDMA_USBModem_Dialer'
Enter the username/password
dial #777
For Verizon Wireless username is phonenumber@vzw3g.com, password vzw.
ActiveSync will work normally when WModem is not started.
I have a tendency not to try to reinvent procedures and inject unnecessary steps into solutions, and between the changing attributes on files, running apps to kill activesync, they're all just not truly needed. Instructions above are actually straight from Telus's support site, (except for dialer enable) so that was the functionality I was looking to achieve..
Idennis.. are you seeing that /hklm/software/oem/wmodem/wmodemDUN key change back to 0 after a soft reset? I am here...
