    Cingular 3G HSDPA Speed Test

For those of you who have 3G HSDPA data cards let's do a speed test. Just go to one of the links below using your computer connected to HSDPA, then choose the server closest to you and post your results here in this thread.

    1) http://speedtest.frontiernet.net/

    2) http://www.speedtest.net/

    3) http://www.dslreports.com/stest

If you don't have 3G service, please don't participate. Thanks!

I don't have 3G service, but I would like to add this to the list. Please delete my post and add this to the original post if deemed justifiable:

just remember the server closest to you in those tests is not necessarily closest to the hop out of cingular's network

That's a good site to test from, but it doesn't relay back to DSL reports so you can record your test. So please let's not use this.

612kb/s when I was in seattle. That was pretty regular for me too. Always using the larger files on toast.net

I had trouble using the dslreports speedtest for mobile. When it gets to the upload part it says redirecting and then never finishes. When I found out about the mspeed test then I assumed that the normal speedtest doesn't work for cell connections. Are some 3g users able to use stest sucessfully?

If you are using a computer I don't see why not. It doesn't matter what type of connection you have, as long as you use a computer with the proper browser. Did you record your result in DSLReports?

1.2 a couple min ago. I still don't think this is a valid test to depict the speed of cingular's network

i don't see how you're getting this 1mbps stuff. i'm about 30 feet away from the UMTS cell site with a -60 signal and A860 aircard. this is physically sitting inside the cingular switch, next to the lucent UMTS LSS.

Getting > 1mbps as long as I'm at -104 dBm or better.
