Web Access using xv6700 W/O Data Plan?

I'm a very confused noob who is trying to get a handle on web access for the xv6700. I can't justify the $45 or even the $10 plan. I was ok with the $5 Mobile Web Plan but then, after I decided on, and purchased the xv6700, the VZW rep said "Oops" can't get the $5 Mobile Web Plan with the xv6700 - errr . Now I'm thinking I would have been better off with the LG V, which I know I can get the $5 Plan.

Before I give up on the xv6700, can someone help with the whole "Free WAP" thing that I keep reading about but can't quite understand. What is it? Is is free? WIll it work on an XV6700? If so how?

PLEASE, PLEASE HELP. I think I will love the 6700 for all it's other capabilities BUT the ability to get light, periodic Mobile Web access is a big reason for me paying for a more sophisticated device.

EDIT P.S. I know, or at least think I know I'll get web access in a WiFi zone (I have no idea how to set that up yet) but in any case I was still looking for some web access outside of WiFi. If anyone has some info on what I need to do to get web access in a WiFi zone, I would love to hear that as well. When I said I was a noob, I meant it

Well I don't know anything about the free WAP, but I can tell you the 6700 has built in WiFi so if you're around a free access point you can always use that.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Yeah, just use the wifi. I don't have a data plan, and the wifi card in this phone is SUPREME. Works awesome. I can be almost anywhere in town and get a signal :P

(don't bother with the posts about that being bad. Thank you, Drive Though)
