Ok my new question is..... My phone's SIM was locked so i bought a new SIM. Do I need to have t mobile to activate the SIM in order for me to have the phone work on another network? OR does that part matter as long as when i put the SIM in the phone it actually says Tmo network????? Please help I really like this phone, and I dont think the acount for the phone is in good standing so i kno i cant get the original sim unlocked.

The SIM must be activated on whatever network the SIM is for. If you're wanting to use it on AT&T, you will need a SIM from them as T-Mobile SIM cards only work on the T-Mobile network. You will not be able to use the phone on another network unless the phone has had the subsidy code unlocked.

score... hopefully i can get a straight answer as ive been hearing two different things.

scenario: family plan, i am main line, grandma is second line. she is eligible for upgrade. i just used mine on a vibrant last july (i think?)

question: in the past i've bounced between my line and her line for upgrades, they are ~180 days apart so at the most i only have to wait 1 year to upgrade. now that we've got smartphones and mandatory data plans, i wasnt sure if i could use her line anymore for upgrades because they'd make me add on the data plan.

sooo... can i use her line, add the data plan, and then cancel the data plan once i get home? i've heard of them registering the IMEI so they know what phone you're using at all times. this would show that her line would never have whatever phone i used to upgrade used on it.

    any input would be appreciated.

you wouldn't be able to cancel the data plan without paying ETF if they added the plan on when you bought the phone.

Even More Plus customres left to dry?

I have a question regarding the upcoming valentines day sale. I am currently on the even more plus plan. I called a cs to ask if I was willing to change to the even more plan if I would be eligible for the free phone. I was told yes. Today I went to my local t-mobile store and asked and they told me I would be unable to. The cs rep did state I would be eligible for the new customer pricing, so if I went in on Friday would I be the only one technically paying for a phone? What's the final word on this situation?
Also, is there anyway around this if they are going to ignore the even more plus customers. Maybe adding a line then canceling the EMP line?

call customer care tell them you want to reverse migrate and why ,should be fine however it takes approx 24 hours for the system to show you as a fully eleigible contractable customer after converting back
I may work for the Big Pink T however my opinions are my own and not in any way associated with T-Mobile

What would I reverse to? I was always under the EMP plan. Sorry for sounding like a newbie but i've never hear of that term before so I don't know what exactly I would be doing.

EDIT: They did tell me when they called in that I would be eligible for the new customer pricing as of now just not this promotion itself, so i'm guessing it falls on T-mobile not allowing it.

Would adding a line and canceling the EMP line work since i don't mind losing my number? or is that not possible? I just don't see how if I am willing to sign a contract why I am not entitled to this promotion?

I'm not sure what et email home is talking about. I've been off for a week, so I don't know if the promo is in store only (which I'm assuming it is). If so, you would be elig. for full discount if you have the tenure, but you wouldn't be able to take advantage of the promo unless store reps can do emp to em conversions now. CS reps can do the conversion, but we have to use cihu which uses your upgrade when you convert. At least 1 phone line has to be upgraded, if you have multiple lines, and they don't upgrade, they loose their upgrade tenure.

Your best bet would be to either try to start a new account, cancel the old account, then request for your old number back. Or, speak with loyalty and see if they can do anything for you.

True, but you shouldn't be promoting it.

I have a question about smart phones and data plans. If I were to upgrade to a smartphone with 2yr contract and the 30$ data plan and got the full rebate, after receiving the rebate a month later could I just change my plan to the lower 10$ data plan or no data plan at all?

Is it possible to reactivate a canceled account if the number has been reassigned? I've been out of the country for 7 months, and would like to reactivate my old account (which apparently still has a balance I wasn't aware of) if possible. It was a flexpay account, if that makes any difference.
