Hi there! I just got a job offer at T-Mobile corporate offices in Bellevue, and I have a question about the employee phone plan. Two months ago I upgraded my phone via wirefly (it was cheaper than upgrading via the tmo site) and at that time went from month-to-month to a 2year contract. Will converting my line to an employee phone be considered a suspension/deactivation of my contract? In other words, am I going to have to pay $400 to wirefly???

The rep who told you that was correct. The form reps use to submit the unlock code, must have the current, or canceled mobile number the phone was used on, the current or canceled account number, the imei number. Without that information the form can't be completed thus they can't submit a request for you. Try using a 3rd party.

There is an exception (or at least there was (Newguy78 can confirm if the exception still exists)). If you paid FULL price at an authorized T-Mobile outlet (eBay, Craigslist, etc are not valid), then you can get the code by faxing in your receipt after having a CS rep submit the request form.

I'm under my mom's family line. I want to get out of the plan and get the $30 monthly 4g. The staff at the corporate store said i need to pay the etf for my number. It's fine by me.

My question, can the staff change it because i know the plan is only offered online and at walmart?

No. You still need to have an active account (or have had one in the past 90 days. You could see if the seller is willing to call in to get the code though.

Does T-Mobile usually hold sales on phones around Halloween? Or should I wait around until Thanksgiving?

    Heres the background:
I have 2 lines with contracts that doesnt expire until 2014. Both lines are available for full upgrades. I recently got a new job with a 20% off discount and I also want a iPhone so ill just eat the cancellation fee.

My plan is to upgrade both lines and sell both of the phones on ebay/craigslist to compensate for the $200 cancellation fees. I figure I could wait until one of those sales and get the phones even cheaper. With my full discount, I believe the Galaxy S3 is $275. Im sure I could flip it for 300-350 at least. I just dont want to pull the trigger now and a month or two down the road they have one of those bomb sales with all phones free

    Any info?

    A question about Value Plans:

I'm looking at the Value Plan section of the TMO website, specifically the plan shown in the attached screenshot.

Am I correct in assuming that any data plan selected in this plan will be shared over both SIMs (i.e., two phones)?

Technically we don't share the data, but both phones would have unlimited data (soft cap at 2gb of highspeed). The detailed break down would be 1k mins shared at 49.98. Line 1 data 10.00, line 2 data is 10.00. Both lines would have a 1.61 regulatory fee plus taxes. With that plan your text would be payg at .20 per msg.

Am hesitant to switch my classic plan to a value plan, I feel like would be missing out on something,
    Min $99.99
    10 x 2 add a lines = $20.00
    1 Family Allow. = $4.99
Data 3 x 20= $60.00 (I believe this is the one without the cap, Got it when the data were $30.00 a line)

Currently 3 phones are out of contract and we all need new phones but do not see the value in purchasing $500.00 phones, best to just purchase prepaid tmobile phones.
The value plan they offered me in store stating for the exact same plan I have now would save me a lot of money my total bill would be $130.00 instead of $170.00 (with my 15% discount). Will I be missing something if I switch my classic plan? Other then extending my contract?

    Thanks.

i have been with tmo for about 8 years (5 line family plan), obviously i have a grandfathered plan that no current plan can match as far as cost-to-value is concerned.

one of the features i have on my line is tzones for $5.99. this makes it practically impossible for me to get good deals on the phones when its time for renewals.. and being that i'm willing to stay with tmo and sign another 2 year contract, i would love it if i could keep my plan and get a decent price on a good phone. ( i know i can do this online for now, but online doesn't have the best pricing available)

even though all my lines have the tzones feature, not all of them utilize it (it is being used but not drastically) so although i like the unlimited aspect and love the price for this feature, i am kinda torn when it comes to upgrades.. so far i've been paying close to retail prices for the phones.

reading sites like HF, SD, FW, it seems like certain reps (in loyalty dept) are willing to work with loyal customers and let them keep the plans over the phone. I don't threaten to cancel, cuz i like the service i get albeit not so much inside my house but the overall experience has been very positive for me.

So, my question is.. is it really not possible to upgrade the lines over the phone and keep the plan, or is it just that i get reps who really care of they upsell numbers then to take care of a loyal customer?
