a BS in business management, what kind of jobs can i get?

Honestly I don't know if I wanna continue being a business major. I hear alot of things, like I won't make much money, its hard to find a job, etc... I took business management as my major because I wanted to become part of the business world so to say.. but I was thinking making going into possibly financing, or marketing.. Anyone here know what kind of jobs a degree in business management can get? Anyone here with a BS in business management?

Eh, it depends on the company. Usually you get relegated to 'Specialist', front-line management, or administrative roles. For more technical jobs, companies usually look for a specialied degree (Computer Science/Programming, Engineering, etc.). In my company, a Business Management degree has worked well for those already in a management or corporate job and then they obtained the degree while in that job...makes for a nice little bump-up in salary. But yeah, you may have to prove yourself more for a position versus someone who has a degree in a particular concentration.

You can be a product manager. I was one for a while and it was an interesting job. It takes finance, marketing and development and rolls them into a single job. While you don't actually do those above, you do help create the direction that each should follow.

I have a bud who was a product manager for P&G and he loves his job. It ain't a high flying finance or banking job, but it provides lots of control over a brand.

What's a BS in Business Management? In our Bachelor of Business Admin program, you get to choose a specialization in third year (Accounting, Marketing, etc.) if you wish, and most people do.

As for product managers, i believe that they're looking mostly for marketing students. At least those are the people that they hire from our program.

I was in a similar situation before......

I took BA (Hons) Business Studies with Marketing for my first degree but when I've realised my interest lies within marketing, I've noticed I never took enough marketing modules. Out of 18 modules that I took within 3 years, only about 3 of them were based on marketing (the minimum requirement)! The other modules I took varied from finance, human resources, IT to tourism, etc.

That's one of the main reasons why I took a Masters degree in MA Marketing so I can specialise in one subject after my first degree.
