I'm an extreme newbie in need of assistance. My child's phone broke and I've been told I have to buy her games again to get them on the replacement phone. That doesn't seem very fair so I started looking for other options and found myself here. This newbie guide really looks like what I need but the links to the "motorola midlet manager" and the "p2ktools" seem to be dead.
I've tried googling those utilities but there are so many hits that its hard to find one that would be legitimate. Please, where might I find those utilities for download? Thank you.

First of all, you'll need to be more specific before any real assistance can be offered; phone model and carrier are two key items.

That said, some carriers (perhaps with some convincing/the customer is always right) might offer credit toward a new download, so it's at least worth a try.
What is an "alot"? I seem to see this in a lot of places. Man, do people need dictionaries and elementary school. What in Sam Hill?

Thank you for your response lightningpgtt. I tried the carrier first. They said if she had the game for less than 6mths, they would consider it.
I did not see any terms of use that explained 'unlimited license' as being restricted to that particular phone. I thought the purchase was attached to my daughter's phone number or our account.
If I buy computer software and my computer breaks, I reinstall the software on the replacement machine. I thought cell phone software would be the same.

We have a Motorola Ve Maxx that we use with a Verizon carrier.

Verizon's apps are BREW... they are locked to the phone's ESN/MEID, your phone number, and a few other things...

You can't copy apps between phones.

The only way to get BREW apps onto your phone is purchase them from the carrier.

VZW will make you re-download them on a replacement hand set. Often times that means you are repurchasing the apps, unless they are a "monthly subscription fee" then I'd suggest have VZW cancel the monthly subscription from your account, then use the hand set to re-subscribe/purchase.

there is NO way around this.

Not what I wanted to hear but what I suspected. At least I know and will stop searching for work arounds. Thank you Mark_Venture.

The main point I was trying to make was this: If you've paid money for an unlimited license, the carrier legally owes you the service/part/software (license)... the exception is that unless the software license specifically contradicts this in clear language. We can thank the government for the software icensing language clarification... amazingly.

The BREW applications that I've used previously were credited to my account after I redownloaded them to my new handset - almost a year and a half later. I simply made a case that I paid for them (the UNLIMITED LICENSE ones) and that my receipts indicated my proof of purchase. Since they can determine that the previous phone is no longer in service, you should be able to get what you paid for as well.

You should be able to get the credit you want. Personally, I think that Verizon is the absolute best carrier out there and their customer service is great. However, you do have to push your point sometimes. If you are polite but firm, customer service, in my experience, is extremely professional. Just don't take "No" for an answer.

Which links? Also, Microsoft Windows has many different versions, the mobile version of which is "CE". There aren't any games that exist as a complete version that are intended for installation on the mobile o.s. On non-"smart" phones, it is irrelevant.
