    W600i reqordings too quiet

I have two W600i units. I find the recordings I make with it are very soft/quiet. Anyone else?

I have tried a few things, even taking off the cover (I can't figure out where the mic is on this thing yet) but to no avail. The recordings just come out too quiet.

I have had the same problem. I did find that if you plugged in the headset that comes with the phone that the mic on that did a much better job of picking up the sound. If you want you can unplug the earphones and just hold the mic. It is not the best solution, but, yes this has been a complaint of mine from the begining as well.

This is interesting.. if you go into service mode, and do a test recording, it's plenty loud, not at all like the recording you get when you go into the normal record menu.

Yeah... tried that, and it's better, but still not spectacular. I basically was trying to use the mic to make my own ringtone. The results you get this way (internal mid or headset mic) are, I am sure you will agree, not loud enough for this purpose.

WoHoo! The new SW update (here http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...2&page=1&pp=15) fixes it!

Nope. All the descriptions of where the mic is seem to be wrong, in my experience. I tried recording and moving my finger about the phone, saying where the finger was at the time, then playing it back, expecting to hear a very loud "scratching" noise as my finger passed over the mic... but to no avail. I may try it again now that the thing actually records at a decent volume!
