Although I'm pissed at Verizon, I got the phone anyway. I used my "New Every Two" last July, and the rep I bought my Slvr from this morning, said that since I wasn't elligible for another upgrade til May 2008, I had to buy the Slvr at the full retail price of $239. He used some stupid excuse that every time they sell a phone at the advertised price (for the Slvr it would be $69.99), Verizon eats a substantial portion from the full retail price. This is a bunch of crap, as I'm sure these phones are only worth about $25 or way less to manufacture.
I still bought it, but now I'm thinking about asking my roommate to help me out. His "New Every Two" is up for use now, and he doesn't want to change phones, so maybe I'll take mine back, pay my roommie $100 and have him get the phone as a gift to me. Anyone know if this would be an option?

The last time we mixed politics and religion, people got burned alive at the stake.

It also changes between upper/lower/Ul capitalization when txting. p's are pauses... useful if you want to wait (i believe 2 seconds/pause) before dialing the next number. Useful with w's (wait), as well... if you want to use some automated touchtone line for whatever purpose and don't want to do all the touchtone keypresses each time.Originally Posted by mattgetscrunk

You basically want them to give you the phone at the advertised price with two year contract, but without the contract? No...I don't think so.
every time i want a new phone my rep just sells me it at the 2yr contract price, but i do have extend my contract an extra 2 years. which is fine by me, b/c i don't plan on leaving anytime soon anyway. i never really use my new every two, because i get a new phone about once a year anyway, at a cheaper price than the NE2 discount anyway.Originally Posted by jlbrightbill
thats one of the things i don't like about verizon, that a new customer can sign up and get a phone cheaper than a customer who has been with verizon for 10 years.
I got to use one today and I have some first impressions:
-The size is great and it feels solid in your hand
-The silver is much classier looking in person
-The keypad, although cramped has excellent tactile feel/feedback and the rubber dividers help a lot
-The screen is very bright and crisp
-There is a brief lag when hitting the menu key, but navigation of the submenus is very fast
My only concern is the keypad is made of a grooved silvery metal similar to what is on the front of the V325. This material is prone to smudges and dirt marks. Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone who's sick of flip phones.
is it easy to lock the keypad?
Yeah its easy to lock the keypad I am talking dad in using his new any 2 on this and give to me and then him and mom get the a870 for free since they only need a phone and i use it for music and all the fun stuff.

Mine was free where I got it. $100 with a 2 year contract...minus a $50 Mail in Rebate...minus my NE2 credit. So if you don't have any NE2 money, it'll cost $50, if you do they will honor up to $50 of the NE2. Wireless Depot...rt 4 East in Paramus NJ (ask for Toby)Originally Posted by alphabets

You would think that an old Verizon customer would get better treatment than a new one, wouldn't you. I was in the same situation you're describing above, but I obviously don't have honest store reps like yours; I hope you get them a small Christmas present every year :-). Signing a new contract would not have phased me, as I plan on staying with Verizon unless they really irk me.Originally Posted by alphabets
