remb got once I play my cam function on my euro version firmware,

suddenly mgs come and I noticed my SF mode changed to HQ!

what I know HQ mode is under Jap firmware.

after I disable my cam function and on again back to euro ver SF setting .

I think it's just a different icon/name, between SF and HQ. They call it HQ in JP firmware because it the highest quality setting was called HQ in PDC handsets like the V603SH. Makes it easier for Japanese people to get used to the phone and all...

next 8+power function is press which keys?

and if changed to jap firmware is stable?and the sms , mms etc settings still there?or I need to set again?+ pics still there?

I tried setting the top center number to 62 for HK fw on my phone (I have 1.046 euro fw btw) & nothing happened. Anyone find anything significant when trying this?

lol so i was waiting for the ferry from Vancouver to Victoria and I was bored. so i turned on my phone with 8p, and i changed to 62. then i went into the menu and did a master reset... phone reboots and blinks with "please wait..."

instant doorstop!

so i just do a format flash boot and it fixed ... lucky me... i still havent done the flashing as it will just annoy me.

this, again, only works on some firmware.

also:

i was reading ima-mobile (ok fine, i was reading the numbers and looking at the pictures), and it seems that on the euro/hk fw, if you change the left set of 00000000 to 01111111, it will enable a menu in the java settings so that you may load your own java games via miniSD.

anyways, I wish i knew more about how to find this stuff kuz I wonder what other values will do. i played with a bunch at the ferry terminal, but nothing seemed to have any affect.

If you are trying this hack on non euro firmwares, you guys are doing it at your own risk. Your phone may act unexpectedly. I don't think the hidden japanese firmware is as complete as in the Euro firmware. You may get bits and pieces in the other versions.

My theory is all the other versions of firmware were created using the Japanese version as a base. The engineers just add and subtract features depending on the customization and memory requirements. This explains why one can display some chinese characters on a non-asian firmware. These characters belong to the base Japanese firmware. If you try this hack on a HK or Taiwanese firmware, I don't think you will get anything to work in the Japanese mode because the chinese language is so complex that the engineers probably have to squeeze out a lot of the japanese features just to be able to put in the chinese language pack.

This is just my theory though. Take it with a grain of salt. What do I know about how Sharp engineers think

ya, well said. when doing this on the JP firmware, you will see the main wallpaper with a GARBLED bottom area. any response to the Re-pro question will make the phone reboot. some menus, however, can be accessed by using the shortcut button.

I go contact list ..search the name seem cannot auto track to the names have to manually scroll one by one

unlike my euro firmware ..I search the name it will auto to the names I indicate ..

phone book on jp firmware requires a "READING" to be input for each contact.

remember, this *trick* does NOT give full JP firmware. any attempt to type in Japanese = reboot.

I just noticed that you still have to change the 0's to 1's to do the sync trick even when using the JP fw trick on the Euro fw 1.046. On the real JP fw you can already play games from mini sd card right?

I pulled this off at my HK 1.02x fw.
I changed the 62 to 21...

I started fine, got fullscreen wallpapers.....got the ugly euro theme...
gotta check it out more now...


edit: nothing did really work, the menu was screwed up, phone did power off when hitting the dpad up. I canged it back to 62, nothing seems to changed.
