Who is the carrier? Go to options, advanced options, TCP and then use the appropriate settings. Check the URL below, as most common carrier settings are listed here. Of course, you will need to enable the data services when you use Opera to browse.

Should not need it. Does Opera work for you now?

Does this also apply for the text messaging as well as the unlimited browsing? My iphone plan is the one that comes with 1500 text messages, just wanna make sure it is still 1500 indeed..thanks!

This is from the BlackBerry FAQ!!!!

    Data Connection Refused?
    From BlackBerryFAQ
    Jump to: navigation, search

    What is 'data connection refused'?'

    * If you do not have a BlackBerry Data Plan then you will see this message on the main screen!

    * If you have a data plan and are seeing this message then you will need to call your service provider and have them check the provisioning on the account.

    * If you do not have a data plan and want to hide this message from showing up then go to:

Options >> Mobile Network and turn Data Services to OFF.

Yes, but when you are using a non-BB (BIS) data plan, then you won't be able to use Opera until you turn data services back on. This is a good option for those that don't use their BB device for data at all. I also found that while my BB works fine in the US on the non-BB data network, I had issues while overseas. The phone kept trying to connect via data and drained the battery quite quickly. I disabled the data services and would only enable when needed.

With the data services active and the tcp settings done correctly opera fails to connect after the initial connection tests. Maybe on ORANGE i just cannot use my bb for wap?

That is odd - I can only see a Medianet browser if I put in a friend's SIM that has a BB data plan. My phone doesn't have a specific data plan, but I do have data via pay-as-you-go (I am on Blue). My phone switches between saying AT&T and Data Connection Refused, I need to use Opera to access the web, and I do have GMail, Google Maps, and Yahoo Go! installed and working but had to install them using the friend's SIM in my phone and the BB plan. OTA only works via the BB browser and requires a BB plan. Operation of Google Search and Picasa seem to require use of the BB browser and thus a BB data plan, so I uninstalled them.

I have opera mini working fine with BB Pearl (8100). And I am on fido. I had to change th TCP to internet.fido.ca. And also leave the username and password blank. I can browse internet fine on my BB Pearl now without BB connect plan.

If I get the BB Curve 8320, it has wifi, and I don't have a bb plan, can i receive email and browse the web when I'm, lets say at home with wifi in my house?
