Have a 8520 unlocked on the att network without the data plan. Everything data works except gmail and other google apps which want a edge data connection. Any workarounds or ability to download gmail directly into main inbox?

And the answer of 'check with your provider' has been in this thread multiple times so had he done so, he would know already.
Sure, you can do lots of things to your phone to make it work differently but that doesn't matter if your provider is still charging you for a data plan.
My statements and opinions are my own and no one else's. So there.
Let me add my five cents! I bought a Blackberry in perfect condition for $20.00 in a garage sale, almost new! I went to E-BAY and bought an unlocking code for $1.87. Got my SIM CARD from my carrier, pop it in, and I have been using my Blackie for the last three months an not a word from my carrier! Actually , the phone is now almost new since I got different new parts, lens, back cover.
There you go!
This has been responded to and discussed a great deal. I just wanted to say that my Curve is all beat up, scratched, doesn't have a data plan, the battery cover is taped on, etc... and I still love using it because of the keyboard. I'm eligible for an upgrade later this month, though... so I will finally be retiring it soon.
Guess what? I have flaws. What are they? Oh I donno, I sing in the shower? Sometimes I spend too much time volunteering. Occasionally I'll hit somebody with my car. So sue me-- no, don't sue me. That is opposite the point I'm trying to make. And I work here - telephone answering service.
HOW doesn't it have a data plan? I can't remember seeing anything on here that said that was possible.
At this point though I'm kind of resigned to paying for one if I ever get an iPhone.
I want to get a blackberry curve 8520 and I want to use it as a GoPhone with At&t. Will that work? Can I just put my sim in and it works?
I'm using a blackberry curve 8330 sprint phone on a boost mobile plan unlimited no contract for 50$ monthly. I have no blackberry features at all except the app store and I have internet and am using right now to post this. I'm using bolt browser because the regular bb browser doesn't work. I'm going to change to t mobile next month because boost mobile has some of the worst customer service I have ever encountered and their tech support are generally illiterate outsourced mexicans but the service works good Its like using a blackberry without any of the bb features which bb browser sux anyways. The phone is not even unlocked actually. Only the plan is boost and I have to use boost customer service but it runs on the sprint wireless signal/network.
Are there any free or minimal priced POP3 or IMAP Email Clients Available for my unlocked Blackberry Torch ?? I'm with AT&T on a pay as you go plan with added data plan but can't get my email because it's not being "pushed"...
any suggestions ??
I was under the impression that you needed a data plan to use your BlackBerry, it's not tru! I have a regular voice and messages(Sms) with T-MOBILE, and I'm using a Blackberry STORM 9530 WITHOUT A PROBLEM!
Do you use gmail? As I have mentioned in this thread earlier, I have the gmail app installed on my 8310. I get alerted instantly (red light flashes too) I get an email. The same way it does for any other alert, such as when I get a txt.
Sorry, I'm not being clear on this.....I'm not looking for an email client that will push my emails to me...realize push email is only possible with a BB plan....what I'm looking for is an email app that I can install on my Torch that will allow me to set up the various POP email parameters from Rogers so I can access my Rogers email on my Torch without a BB plan. I have an add on data plan so using data is not a problem but I haven't found a third party email client on BB App world that I can use to get my email out side of using a BB plan. Yes, I know I can log into my Rogers web site through the Torch's default browser and get my email that way but I was looking for a separate email client that would provide the same email functionality...
Why are you looking to reinvent the wheel? Is your 'data plan' that much cheaper than an actual BB add-on data plan? Are you fed up with BBs monopoly with email solutions for their own phones? I'd suggest checking BB App World but then you wouldn't have access from your phone without a BB data plan...
