How to get rid of voicemail notification icon

I have been switching between AT&T SIM and T-Mobile SIM for the past few dayson my P800. AT&T supports notifying you with the little tape player icon when you get a voicemail.
On T-Mobile however, you get an SMS.

After switching with the T-Mobile SIM, the tape player stays there even though I don't have any voicemail. I also made sure I deleted all voicemail when I was using the AT&T SIM.

    Please help....

FYI, if I do a master reset, the icon is gone but as soon as I restore, the icon shows up again.

hmmmmm...........With the AT&T SIM in your phone, call and leave yourself a voicemail message. Wait a couple of minutes, then go into your voicemail and delete the voicemail. This may reset the icon. Worth a shot.

Post Getting rid of the Voicemail Icon

I have this problem with Cingular. Sometimes the icon won't go away. I leave myself a new message and delete it from the phone. This usually gets rid of the icon.

I am using mine on T-Mobile in Alabama with no problems. Voicemail icon lights and then goes away after checking the "FULL" message or deleting it. It will add an sms to your phone. I have experienced what you are describing with Motorola phones, but my P800 has operated perfectly in both firmware configurations with the exception of the follow-up sms.

    Angry

Thx for all the replies. I tried to put back my AT&T SIM and to leave myself a message as suggested. Then went in and deleted the voicemail and.......bam, no more voicemail icon. I was really happy but then, I replaced my T-Mobile SIM and the voicemail icon reappeared.

Tried to do the same with the TMO SIM in and it didn't do the trick. Any other suggestions??

    Cheers.

I am using t-mobile in Chicago Area...and I don't see an icon when I get a voicmail. I would rather see an icon than have a sms sent out to me.

Is there a way to change this.

    Thanks,

    Ravi

T-Mobile only uses SMS to notify you of a voicemail. When I had this problem, I had put a SIM from ATTW (they use the voicemail icon), then switched to a T-Mobile SIM. In other words, no way to change it from SMS to voicemail icon.

    Cheers.
