[QUOTE=fergotmyid]Bonorrific posted something interesting on Wireless Advisor. He says that if you upgrade from 02 to 04 you will retain OBEX. If you go from 03 to 04 you will not have OBEX. So, I say, if you want OBEX flash to 02 and then go to VZW to flash to 04. He mentions OBEX will be on future moto handsets in the fall.
Went from .03 to .04. Reedited vibe then ring. Works. MPT with bluetooth-all functions lit, Phonebook and calendar work. Multimedia studio cannot read phone. Does MPT use OBEX to access those functions? If so, it is further evidence that it is not present in the .03 to .04 update. Multimedia studio still functions on USB cable.
The big question is ....will OBEX be enabled on new phones that come preloaded with .04?

You will see that it has been asked SEVERAL TIMES ALREADY and the answer still is... We won't know until we start seeing phone tht SHIP with .04 on them!!
I mean, we don't even know for sure, why going from .02 to .04 has obex, but going from .03 to .04 doesn't... We only have GUESSES as to why...
We can speculate that New phones shipping with .04 WONT have OBEX because Most of Verizon's stock should have received the .03 firmware updates.. SO if they just take the phones from stock, up them to .04, no OBEX...

Again, MPT does not use OBEX...Originally Posted by SHINOMADARENSHU
Same here. I had to go through the set up again to attach pix to each of my contacts, but once that was done it worked again.Originally Posted by nick620y
The list displayed when you view what Bluetooth profiles your device supports. This isn't a list authored by anyone; it's just what your computer reports as available Bluetooth profiles.Originally Posted by WaltA

I don't see why it wouldn't work with bootcamp.Originally Posted by WaltA

The first VZW store I went to attempted to flash my phone, but after 45 minutes, the rep said that something was wrong with their data cable (I guess they only have *1* in the store). The second store I went to was able to flash it for me and somehow managed to completely screw up the lock code. It was changed, but not to the default last-four-digits number. I didn't notice this until I got home, and when I called they told me I had to call customer service to have it reset. Of course, customer service was clueless on how to reset it, but sure enough, a 2 minute search on HoFo revealed the answer

I know on a Mac with MacOS, relying on PST running in a "virtual PC" environment does not work... And I've seen no one post they got it to work.Originally Posted by WaltA
Doesn't boot camp actually allow you to boot "real" windows on an intel based mac? i.e. no emulation?
If so, then I would think it should work with Boot camp on the Intel based macs running real windows.
Yes. Starting off of bootcamp = equivalent of running a Wintel on your Mac hardware. (This is, of course, sacrilege, to most of us Mac users.Originally Posted by Mark_Venture

What was the answer??

Since then Ive been on the fence about whether or not I should take my new phone in to have 04 installed. However, after reading about some of the issues that others have mentioned in this discussion group I'm inclined to stick with 02. IMHO, I don't think its worth upgrading to 04 unless you're having a specific issue with Bluetooth headset connectivity. Sure the menus are a little faster, but its not as though I'm running heavy calculations through on my phone that require fast output.
I had high hopes that the release of 04 would signal an end to the nonsense of having to resort to "hack" my phone to enable a feature that was and should have been supported from the beginning. Funny, this coming from a company whose slogan is "Can you hear me now?"
I know, I know...preaching to the choir. </rant>
